PALESTINE - Memorial services for Kenneth Chester Wendell Jr., 48, Alderbranch community, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday at the United Pentecostal Church, Palestine, with the Rev. W.E. Shiflet officiating under direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Wendell died Jan. 5, 2007, in Palestine. He was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Vivian, La., to Kenneth Chester Wendell Sr. and Bobbye Jean Blizzard Wendell.

He lived in Anderson County nearly 27 years, moving from Oil City, La. He coached baseball and began a Little League program in Slocum. He was a member of United Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Noah and Pauline Blizzard.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Wendell, Alderbranch; son, K.C. Wendell III, Alderbranch; daughter, Nicole Patterson, Nacogdoches; mother, Bobbye Wendell, Oil City, La; brother, Mark Wendell, Vivian, La.; sisters, Angie Harris, Shreveport, La., and Jeannie Creel, Casper, Wyo.; and four grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Holman, Bobby Thomas, Elwin Hogan, Jim Harris, Buddy Creel and Buster Steibing.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
