DiMAGGIO Benard A. DiMaggio passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Benny was born and lived in New Orleans, LA in the St. Roch Park area until age 50. His father Peter immigrated to America at the turn of the century from Contessa Entillina, Sicily and met his mother Camile Zagamy in New Orleans. He was the youngest of 8 kids: Joseph, Anthony, Peter, Camile, Rosie, Nana, and Netsie. Benny was very close to his family and grew up with his nieces, nephews and best friends Warren Lunning and George Gallway. He led a happy, colorful life full of love, adventure, and accomplishments.

Benny was a US Army WWII Veteran rank Staff Sergeant based in the Philippines. Benny was an accomplished General Contractor most well-known for his construction of the Lawn Tennis Club and William B. Reilly Coffee Company.

Benny DiMaggio was the loving Patriarch of the New Orleans DiMaggio family. His children are Cartrecia "Chi" DiMaggio and David Peter and his wife Tanya DiMaggio. His grandchildren are Dustin and Trinity DiMaggio. His ex-wives Myrtle Champer DiMaggio and Penny Ecker DiMaggio. His living nephews are Joseph DiMaggio, Fritz Heintz and Donald Peter DiMaggio. And his nieces are Deanna Clark, Camile Bourgeois, Carol Koen, Charlotte Manning and Tina Seghers. Also, he left behind many more loved friends, great-nieces and -nephews, and step grandchildren: Raven and Raine Hackett. His companion of 14 years is Dona Nettles.

Whenever you remember Benny, he'd wish for you to remember his stories, his antics and laughter. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation and services at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be on Friday, March 19, 2010 between the hours of 6:30 P.M. and 9:00 P.M and on Saturday, after 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. when a brief prayer service will be held at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Roch #2 Cemetery.

She had children Alexandrfa "Sandra" Faye (1933-1982) and Hugh Don Friddell (1935-2002) from her first marriage to Fletcher A. Friddell. Christian and Helen had children, Nancy Marie Frederiksen, born 16 FEB 1938 and Peter Christian Frederiksen, born 21 APR 1939 and died 13 OCT 1963, both born at Harris County, TX. On the 1950 census, New Orleans ED 36-91, page 18, a Marylee Frederiksen, age 31, born Arkansas, was listed as a daughter of Christian, employed as a secretary in a city attorney's office. Cannot make any further ID of this individual. DLB 2024. Christian Hommelgaard Frederiksen died on 11 February 1984.

Cartrecia "Chi" DiMaggio, 69, of New Orleans, a pioneer in the world of sports, passed away on December 12th, 2023, in Metairie. Born on September 16th, 1954, in New Orleans to Myrtle Champer DiMaggio and Benard A. DiMaggio, Chi's life was marked by a profound love for sports and an unyielding spirit.

A trailblazer in her field, Chi was among the first professional beach volleyball players, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. Her innovative mind led her to become the Inventor, Engineer, and Promoter of the groundbreaking 1st Interactive Sports Expo held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Her passion for sports was rooted in her education, having graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Beyond her professional achievements, Chi's heart was in helping make sports accessible to all. Her outgoing nature and genuine care for others made her a friend to countless individuals across the globe. Her zest for life knew no bounds as she traversed the world, embracing diverse cultures and experiences.

Chi was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Champer DiMaggio and Benard A. DiMaggio, and is survived by her brother, David DiMaggio, along with her nephew, Dustin DiMaggio, niece, Trinity DiMaggio, and numerous cousins.

Her true passion in life was undeniably sports, and her legacy will endure through the lives she touched and the contributions she made to the world of athletics. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be 8:30am on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 20, at Jacob Shoen & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St Roch Cemetery #2.

Mr. Wendell died Jan. 5, 2007, in Palestine. He was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Vivian, La., to Kenneth Chester Wendell Sr. and Bobbye Jean Blizzard Wendell.

He lived in Anderson County nearly 27 years, moving from Oil City, La. He coached baseball and began a Little League program in Slocum. He was a member of United Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Noah and Pauline Blizzard.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Wendell, Alderbranch; son, K.C. Wendell III, Alderbranch; daughter, Nicole Patterson, Nacogdoches; mother, Bobbye Wendell, Oil City, La; brother, Mark Wendell, Vivian, La.; sisters, Angie Harris, Shreveport, La., and Jeannie Creel, Casper, Wyo.; and four grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Holman, Bobby Thomas, Elwin Hogan, Jim Harris, Buddy Creel and Buster Steibing.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
