Emaline T. Birdwell
F, #111740, b. 3 February 1824, d. 8 August 1883
Biography
Emaline T. Birdwell was born on 3 February 1824 in Tennessee. Some online genealogies show her parents as Col. Allen Birdwell and Lucinda Ross. Allen Birdwell was in Alabama by 1818, where he married Lucinda Ross (b. 1806). He relocated in 1842 (per his diary) to the Republic of Texas "with his entire family". While it is possible that Emaline Birdwell was his first child, it seems implausible in view of her consistent listing in the censuses as born in Tennessee. 1880 also shows both her parents born in Tennessee. Mrs. Julia Garst of West Side Stricken With Heart Trouble While At Table.
________________
While sitting at the dinner table, Friday Mrs. Julia A. Catherine Garst, 62, residing at 1902 West Douglas avenue, was stricken with heart trouble as she turned to pick something from the floor. She fell from her chair to the floor and died in a few minutes.
After baking a chicken and preparing dinner, Mrs. Garst sat down to the table with her children. None of them realized that their mother was sick until she had fallen. Mrs. Garst is survived by her husband, Thomas Garst: five sons, Errett, Earl and Thomas of Wichita; Frank of Pratt; Paul of Kansas City, Mo.; one step-son, Charles, whose address is unknown; Mrs. A. E. Hennan (sic) of Oklahoma City. A daughter, Julia, is a school teacher at Maize, Kansas. She was notified that her mother was sick and sped to Wichita in an automobile, arriving here fifteen minutes after receiving the message. Her mother was dead when she arrived. An only sister of the deceased resides in Jonesboro, Tenn.
Funeral arrangements await the arrival of relatives and are in charge of the Wichita Undertaking company.
She was buried in March 1916 in Highland Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, Findagrave #23809470.

James M. Bacon1
M, #111749, b. 23 September 1858, d. 16 March 1911
Parents
Biography
James M. Bacon was born on 23 September 1858 in Washington Co., TN.
1 He married
Mary Abigail Miller about 1879, James and Mary had no biological children, as evidenced by the 1900 census on which Mary, aged 40, reported zero children born to the marriage. The child, Mary Carroll, listed with them in 1900, was apparently an adopted, or perhaps "raised by" step-daughter. The Bacons subsequently adopted siblings Leola B. and Andrew Jackson "A.J." Range, children of Allie L. (Bacon) and Andrew Jackson Range, Sr., after Allie's death. Allie was a cousin of James Bacon. The children were raised by the Bacons with their birth surnames. He died on 16 March 1911 in Washington Co., TN.
He was buried in March 1911 in Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Washington Co., TN.
