PEKIN, IL - Arthur A. "Yibby" Hancock, 96, of 3636 Sheridan Road passed away at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

Born Oct. 27, 1914, in Pekin to Thomas and Elsie (Larimore) Hancock, he married Doris Fern Reed on May 14, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. She died Oct. 28, 2004, in Pekin.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Judith "Judy" (Robert) Brining of Pekin; one granddaughter, Holly R. Brining of Austin, Texas; four stepgrandchildren, Carol McElfresh of East Peoria, Sheryl Christi of Oklahoma, Cliff Brining of Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., and Doug Brining of Kimberling City, Mo.; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Yibby worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 23 years before retiring in 1977 as a power truck operator. He also tended bar for many years, mostly at the Saratoga in downtown Pekin.

He was a member of South Pekin Congregational Church, where he was a longtime deacon. He also was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916.



He was buried in 2010 in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL, Find A Grave Memorial# 76890460.

PEKIN, IL - Doris Fern Hancock, 86, of 427 Capri St. died at 6:39 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1918, in Decatur to Newton A. and Corrine S. Ryan Reed, she married Arthur A. "Yibby" Hancock on May 14, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Marilyn "Judy" (and Robert) Brining of Pekin; one granddaughter; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Brown of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

She was a clerk for Caterpillar Inc. from 1944 to 1974. She was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge 673.
