Since his wife Mary Windle was using the Snyder surname as of the 1946 marriage record for their daughter Adeline Rose Turner, one would not expect that his wife who died in 1968 would have been the same individual, but a death record for Mary Windle (Turner)(Snyder) has not been found. James W. Clifton, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in London, Ohio, on July 3, 1927, a son of the late Elmer and Dorothy (Wendell) Clifton. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Kuhn, siblings, Mary Mulky, Francis Puckett, Sarah Anderson, Donald Clifton, Elmer Clifton, Jr. and Richard Clifton.
He worked for Super Foods for 30 years having retired in 1992. He also managed the Kamp-A-Lot for a number of years and was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Bellefontaine.
He was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Bellefontaine, Friendly Senior Group and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533. He spent winters in North Carolina.
He married the former Joanne L. Duty on October 14, 1961 and she preceded him in death on May 25, 1999.
He is survived by sons, John W. (Celeste) Clifton of Florida, Steve D. Clifton of Bellefontaine; daughters, Jerri (Les) Foreman, Bev McDonnell, Debbie Wagy, Vickie Neeld and Terri Jo (Sam) Miller all of Bellefontaine; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; very best friend, Treva Fanaff of Bellefontaine; sisters, Betty Meadows and Bernetta Ray.
Pastor Ron Irick conducts a funeral at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine where friends may call on Sunday, July 31st from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place at Zanesfield Cemetery.
He was buried in 2011 in Zanesfield Cemetery, Zanesfield, Logan Co., OH, Find A Grave Memorial# 99689466.
