Margaret "Margot" (Thom) Lovejoy age 97 died peacefully on December 3, 2014. She was born in Antigo, WI on May 4, 1917, the eldest child of Katharine (Bissell), and Walter Thom. Orphaned at an early age she and her sisters were raised by her aunt Mary (Thom) and uncle Jack Mylrea in Rhinelander, WI. She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1939 and then studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fountainbleau, France and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She married Robert Lovejoy in June 1941 in Wausau, WI. He was a lawyer in Janesville. He died in 1988. During her early married life, Margot was active in community service – the YWCA, Scouting, the League of Women Voters, PTA, and the First Congregational Church. She was a founding member of the Blackhawk Curling Club and also enjoyed golf and cross country skiing. When her children were young, Margot painted and drew pictures for them. Margot and Robert were seasoned travelers and visited almost every continent; after he died, she continued to travel abroad. She researched and wrote three books of family history, which she distributed, to family and friends. Margot is survived by four children; son in law; sister; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lovejoy; a daughter, Alexandra Waeffler; her sister, Julia Murray; and a grandson.

She was buried in December 2014 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville, Rock Co., WI, Find A Grave Memorial# 139566136.

Winfield Thom was born in Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin on October 17, 1885, the son of Henry Cassius and Julia Helen (Scott) Thom, esteemed and influential residents of Madison, WI. Winfield began his education in the public school of Beloit, later attended grade school and high school in Madison and subsequently pursued special work at the University of Madison.

He entered the lumber business in 1909, first working for Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company for two years. He next became sales manager for the Hill-Mylrea Company of Wausau for the next seven years and in 1916 accepted a similar position as sales manager for the Langlade Lumber Company of Antigo. In 1921 he severed ties with them and in partnership with J.J. Adams, established his own company, the Adams-Thom Lumber Company of Wausau, which he served as president until the company was dissolved in 1927. For the last three years of his life he was in the real estate and insurance business.

Winfield Thom was married in Wausau on June 28, 1916 to Miss Katharine Ross Bissell, daughter of pioneer lumberman Walter Bissell. Together they had three daughters. Mr. Thom was a member of Elks Lodge #666, the Wausau Club, the Wausau Country Club, the Rotary Club of Wausau and the Northwestern Lumber Club.

Winfield Thom, just 45 years of age, died on July 19, 1930. He is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau, WI.
