Soon after Mr. Crutchfield's arrival in Nashville he became connected with Gray, Fall and company, a hardware firm then located on Second avenue. Later he formed a partnership with Keith-Simmons and company. This association was continued until Mr. Crutchfield formed his own firm of J. A. He was a member of the Methodist church practically all his life. He was a member of the McKendree church for many years, but later became a charter member of the Belmont Methodist church. He was deeply interested in the work of the congregation of the church the remainder of his life.
