George “Al” Peterson, 83, of O’Fallon, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born July 1, 1921, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Peterson was a retired truck driver for Buske Trucking Co. and a member of Teamster Local 600 of St. Louis, Mo. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia J., nee Lynch, Peterson; five children, Donna (Monte) Carpenter, Mary Peterson-Combs, Claudette (Dennis) Gilbert, Georgia (David) Golightly and James R. Peterson; and a brother, Samuel Edwin Peterson. He was a dear grandfather and uncle.
Visitation: There will be no visitation.
Funeral: A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Bethel United Church of Christ, Cahokia, Ill., with the Rev. Carol Shanks officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
