State Pioneer's Services Monday

Services for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Myers, 89, of 3034 NW 30, a pioneer Oklahoma resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. She died Friday in Baptist Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Webster County, Mo., and came to Oklahoma with her husband in a covered wagon in 1898. A former resident of Pawnee and Purcell, she moved to Oklahoma City more than 50 years ago. She was a member of American War Mothers, Chapter 4, where she belonged to the Circle 14 group.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe Leverich, 3036 NW 30; three sons, S.E., Enid, William, Norma, and Elmer, Purcell; and four sisters and five brothers, all of Marshfield, Mo.

She was buried in March 1966 in Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK, Findagrave #37338488.
Sarah Elizabeth Popejoy was also known as "Lizzie" Popejoy.1

Funeral services for Alfred W. (Fred) Jeffrey, 86, 428 N. Fifth St., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McCracken – Thorn Funeral Home here. The Rev. Marshall Harper will officiate and burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.

Mr. Jeffrey, a resident of Guernsey County most of his life, died at 4:50 p.m. at Contented Rest Home, where he had been residing for several months.

Born May 5, 1881, he was a son of Lincoln E. and Hanna Jane Sickles Jeffrey. He was married to the former Martha D. King, who died May 20, 1959.

Mr. Jeffrey leaves three daughters, Mrs. Marion (Eithel sic) Leeper and Mrs. Ruth Walker, both of Cambridge, and Mrs. Edward (Lucille) Schare, North Lawrence; one brother, John of Millersburg; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

A retired steelworker and carpenter, he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Friends will be received at McCracken-Thorn Funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Ethel W. Leeper, 77, of 428 N. Fifth St., died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 1, 1991) at Guernsey Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 25, 1914, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Alfred W. and Martha King Jeffrey. She worked as an aide in area nursing homes and with her husband at Buckeye Cleaners for 14 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Golden Sixties and Guernsey Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Leeper leaves her husband, Marion D. Leeper, whom she married Oct. 15, 1941; one daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson of Boca Raton, Fla.; two sisters, Ritta Lucile Schare and Naomi Ruth Walker, both of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Steven Ryan, Theresa Douglas and Jennifer Wilson, all of Boca Raton; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thorn Funeral Home.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Guernsey Memory Gardens with Pastor Stephen Spurgin officiating.
