Obituary (via Findagrave.com):
Joy Irene was born to Vern and Sarahannah Larimore on September 8, 1945. Her childhood was spent in the Edgar community where she went to grade and high school. Joy's mother died when Joy was a senior.
She attended the University of Nebraska for three years and finished her training as a Medical Technologist at the University Hospital in Omaha.
Joy and LeRoy met at a Christmas family gathering in 1965 and they were married October 29, 1967. To this marriage, three children were born: Todd, Tammy and Kimberly.
A honeymoon to an uncle's mountain home started a tradition which continued every year possible. These vacations were shared many times with her sister, Jean's family. We will always remember Joy for her joyous attitude with the children.
Joy did the things she enjoyed and believed in with enthusiasm. She loved leading children's choirs; the music in the prelude today was from one of the choir's she led: The Singers of Today. She loved teaching children, teaching Sunday School and leading Bible classes.
She was active in Community Bible studies, church activities, the Cadams Extension Club and the Valley Home 4-H Club.
Joy served both for what she received and for what she could give. Joy was not perfect, and she wasn't always "up", but she did more than "Reach" she "touched" those around her. She had a way with words and a smile and hospitality which touched the hearts of both adults and children. She shared her talents in crafts, in sewing, in flower arranging with everyone who would accept them. She had a special relationship with God and with people. And that is what Joy's life is all about.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 23, at 2 p.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hardy, Nebraska, with the Rev. Ted McIntyre officiating. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hoyer, singing "One Day At A Time", with Mrs. Beauford Hoyer, accompanist. Congregational hymns were "Lift High The Cross" and "Amazing Grace", with Mrs. Harvey Petersen, organist.
Casketbearers were Dan Peterson, Michiel Hoyer, Dennis Roberts, Brad Petersen, Daid Lynn Tietjen and Bruce Stafford.
