Biography

James Hezekiah Colville was born on 8 August 1830 in Licking Co., OH, per headstone.1,2 He married Sophia Bline, daughter of Jacob Bline and Elizabeth Frederick, about 1855, Nine children born, eight living as of the 1900 census -- the correct numbers would appear to be ten born, eight living -- of the ten chldren, Rachel is not found after 1880, and Flora had passed in 1894. A girl, Annie, age 11, is listed in the family in the 1870 census, and appears on that census to have been a daughter who was listed out of the correct birth order, but I don't think so. At age 11, she should have been listed in the family in 1860, but she was not. Her birth date appears to have been too close to Flora Colville's birth date to have been other than a twin, but Flora Colville had no twin. With no other indication that an Ann Colville of that age existed in that time and place, I conclude she was living with the family in 1870, but not a member of it. DLB 2019.2 James Hezekiah Colville died on 21 September 1911 in Alexandria, Licking Co., OH.

Robert Merle Colville, 85, of Alexandria, died at 7:50 this morning in Newark Hospital where he had been a patient since Dec. 15.

A member of the Alexandria Methodist Chruch, and employed as a meat cutter for the Vastine-Colville Grocery, he is survived by two sons: Robert of Bethesda MD and Charles of Norwalk CA and six grandchildren. His wife, Myrtle died in 1934.

Funeral arrangements in charge of the Ross Henderson Funeral home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday and burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria OH.
