Delores was born on October 29, 1932 in Jersey County, Illinois to Fred and Neta (Meyer) Hagen. She received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, and was a public school teacher in Momence, Wichert, & St Anne school districts for over 25 years. On June 17, 1960, she married Peter Koopmans.

Delores was an active member at Faith Reformed Church where she served as organist, participated in women’s ministry and small groups, and also served many years as Christian Education Coordinator. Delores enjoyed reading, baking, and spending time with her family. But what she really loved was to play games with her children and grandchildren.

Delores will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Cindy) Koopmans of Florida, Bill (Sherri) Koopmans of Kentucky, and Lori (Harvey) Hoekstra of Kankakee. She will also be forever remembered by her eight grandchildren, Zach (Selena) Koopmans, Peter (Angela) Koopmans, Sam Koopmans, Tyler (Sandra) Koopmans, Travis Koopmans, Allison Koopmans, Kaitlyn (Jon) Roberson, and Kurtis (Mackenzie) Hoekstra, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Oliver Koopmans, Robin Koopmans, Izik Koopmans, and Mckinley Roberson.

Delores is preceded in death by husband, Peter, and great-granddaughter, Stella Roberson.

A celebration of life service in memory of Delores will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Faith Reformed Church. A visitation will be held from 10am – 11am before the service. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Kankakee, Illinois.

Memorial donations in memory of Delores may be made to Faith Reformed Church’s Vacation Bible School program.

Earl was the owner of ByGone's Antiques in Chillicothe and enjoyed selling at numerous antique shows throughout the state.

He enjoyed collecting, gardening, eating and Chicago sports. Earl volunteered and served as a trustee at St Mark's Lutheran in Chillicothe. He was a passionate dart ball player, highly involved in several local leagues, and bowled in several Peoria leagues.

He is survived by his brother, Mark Swendsen (Christine [May]) of Middlebury, Indiana; nephew, Craig (Jen) Swendsen of Zionsville, Indiana; and nieces, Stephanie Swendsen (Stephen Hopkins) of Austin, Texas, and Carly Swendsen of Mishawaka, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Sr.; mother, Bettye Lou; and nephew, Eric.

Published in Peoria Journal Star from May 11 to May 13, 2019.

Biography

Phineas Morgan Orndorff was born on 21 August 1824 in Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA. He married Amelia Propst, daughter of Elias Propst and Sarah Eye. Phineas Morgan Orndorff died on 31 March 1900 in Mount Joy, Scott Co., IA.

He was buried in April 1900 in Mount Joy Cemetery, Park View, Scott Co., IA, Findagrave #91573116.
