WILTON, Iowa -- Kathryn M. Doyle, 86, of Muscatine, formerly of Wilton, died Friday at Muscatine Care Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Funeral Home, Wilton. There is no visitation.
Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, is in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn Sickmon married C.O. Doyle in 1940 in Kahoka, MO. He died in 1981.
Memorials may be made to Muscatine Care Center or Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Bill) Spengler, Sunbury; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mac Sickmon, Tucson, Ariz.

WILTON – Kathryn M. Doyle, 86, formerly of Wilton, died Friday, March 15, 1996, at Muscatine Care Center in Muscatine.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. The Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Muscatine Care Center and to Cedar Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 1, 1909, to George and Edna McCleary (sic) Sickmon at Monmouth, Ill. She married Claridon O. Doyle April 3, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Spengler and her husband Bill of Sunbury; a brother, Mac Sickmon of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Brett and Scott Spengler of Durant and Lynn Nix and her husband Jimmy of Bryan, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kiley and Sale Spengler and Joshua Nix.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Doyle was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Polly Sullivan and a brother, Don Sickmon.

NOVELTY GIRL MARRIES
Leota Rogers and Iowa Man Wed in Memphis Last Thursday
Miss Leota Rogers of Novelty and Faye Moubry of Vinton, la., were married in Memphis at 9 o’clock last Thursday morning by the Rev H. V. McColloch, pastor of the Memphis Presbyterian Church.
The bride was attired in a dress of powder blue lace and the bridegroom wore a grey suit.
Mrs. Moubry is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rogers of southwest of Novelty. She attended and graduated from Novelty High School and also attended Kirksville Teachers College. She has taught her home school, Mote, southwest of Novelty the last four years and has been re-employed for her fifth term next year.
Mr. Moubry is superintendent for the Concrete Materials Co. of Cedar Rapids, la., and is now supervising construction on Highway No. 21 west of Vinton. He and his bride will make their home in Vinton for the present.

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Shirley Jean Spengler, age 83, of Walcott, IA, formerly of Sunbury, IA died on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, IA. Private family inurnment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, IA.
Shirley was born May 15, 1930 in Alburnet. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1947. Shirley married Wilbert "Bill" E. Spengler on March 26, 1955 in Muscatine, IA. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2010.
Shirley was a secretary at various businesses and retired from Micro-Surface, Wilton, IA.
Survivors:
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Lynn and her husband Mark Snyder and their son Joshua of West Branch, IA, her sons: Brett Spengler of Durant, IA and Scott "Boze" and his wife Deb Spengler and their children Kiley and Kale Spengler of Durant, IA and her half brother Charles and his wife Jan Moubry of Liberty, MO.

Muscatine Girl, 21, Is Fatally Injured
MUSCATINE AP -- Miss Janice Egel, 21, died in a hospital here early Wednesday of injuries received in an auto accident at Wilton Junction Tuesday night.
She was a passenger in a car driven by Shirley Knowles, about 23, of Wilton Junction, who was injured seriously.
Highway patrolmen said the Knowles car drove onto Highway 6 into the path of a car driven by Ralph Seibel of Durant. Seibel's car struck the rear of the Knowles car, knocking it over a curb into a tree, patrolmen said.

Floyd L. Rogers, Retired Novelty Farmer, Died Friday; He Was 87
Floyd Leroy Rogers, 87, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Novelty community, died at 6:45 o'clock Friday evening, Dec. 29, 1972, at the Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville. He had been admitted there Nov. 26.
Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina with the Reverends Richard Ralstin of Novelty and Bob Schofield of Lancaster officiating. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, who before their marriage Jan. 12, 1908, at Novelty, was Miss Winnie McCarty, two daughters, Margaret, Mrs. Paul Egge, of Vinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Leota Moubry of Novelty, a son, Carroll Rogers, also of Novelty, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 13, 1885, in Knox County, a son of one of the 14 children of Sanford C. and Margaret Paralee Pond Rogers, who came to Missouri in 1866 from Illinois. The mother died Feb. 19, 1936, and the father about twenty years before that. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers lived their entire married life on a farm south of Novelty and would have observed their 65th wedding anniversary next week. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 sisters and brothers, five of whom preceded their mother in death and were Arrenor Kreiger, Ellen Arment, Sanford O. Rogers and two sisters in infancy, and also Mrs. Essie McNeil, Mrs. Eulala Lowary, James A., William S., Joseph C., Austin T., Arvie B., and Zera F. Rogers.

Gordon N. Knowles, 72, of Momence, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. Burial, with military rites by the Momence Honor Guard, will be in Kankakee

He was born July 20, 1927, in Bensenville, the son of Leslie and Frieda Nummer Knowles.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lela Marguerite Knowles, whom he married Oct. 16, 1952, in Aledo; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Gary Denny of Momence; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Allen and Pam Knowles of Peoria, Ariz., David and Jamie Knowles of Bourbonnais, Robert Knowles of Atlanta, Ga., Larry and Betsy Knowles of Muscatine, Iowa, and Daniel and Jeannene Knowles of
Momence; his father of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Dave Routien of Bourbonnais; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are his mother and one granddaughter, Krista Denny.
Mr. Knowles had retired from Momence Packing Company in 1995 and he had operated Knowles Plants in Momence.
He was a member of AARP. He enjoyed HO Model Trains and wood carving.

WILTON, Iowa – Wilbert “Bill” E. Spengler, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Spengler was born June 9, 1929 in Davenport, the son of Wilber and Noalma Nelson Spengler. He married Shirley J. Moubry Doyle March 26, 1955, in Muscatine.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Durant American Legion Post No. 430 and the NRA.
He collected guns and enjoyed restoring and collecting antique autos. He loved animals, especially his cats Maggie and Molly.
He worked at Farmer’s Grain and Lumber, in Sunbury, while owning and operating Bill’s Tavern in Sunbury.
He later worked as a welder at Durant Fabricating and Wendling Quarries.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Durant American Legion.
Memorials may7 be made to the Durant American Legion in his memory.
