Alan “Al” Earl White was born on August 9, 1957, the son of Marshal and Beverly (Wilt) White in Cedar Rapids, IA.

He graduated from Shellsburg High School in 1975. After high school he worked for the Benton County road crew. Al also started raising, training, and selling coon hounds as a young man.

Alan married Debra Wenner on April 7, 1978 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton, IA. After he and Deb were married, Al farmed with his father-in-law outside of Vinton. In 1983, Al and Deb moved to Decorah. Al took a job delivering trailers all over the country for Featherlite. He also started Nighthawk Kennel and White’s Custom Trophies. Together they raised four children, Brooke, J.D., Stacy and Drew. They enjoyed traveling together and watching their kids’ sporting events. He also loved spending time with his grandson, Cabe. Al was a true outdoorsman as he loved to hunt, fish, and look for mushrooms. He was a big Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved baseball. Al’s true passion was raising his Black and Tan Coonhounds, saying that his dogs are a big part of his legacy. He is known all over the world for producing first class hunting dogs.

Alan was preceded in death by his wife Deb on July 4, 2008. father-in-law: Dean Wenner and his brother-in-law: Mark Ollinger.

VINTON - Mark Ollinger, 49, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at his rural residence following a sudden illness.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father David Ambrosy as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton. To honor Mark's wishes, the casket will remain closed at all times. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.

Mark was born April 24, 1960 at Marengo to Bernard and Sally (Eichler) Ollinger and graduated from Vinton's Washington High School in 1978. In his high school years, he had been a drummer with the band 'Joshua" and still enjoyed playing for his family.

On September 18, 1981 he was united in marriage to Lynda Lea White at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton.

Mark planted and harvested crops and raised cattle as a farmer who truly loved each and every day of farm life -- A true steward of the land. He was also passionate about restoring classic vehicles and farm equipment. This hobby gave him great pleasure and his talent and the quality of his effort was admired by many. Mark was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He will be remembered most of all as a loving husband, and father whose family always came first in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda, daughter, Stephanie and son, Matt, all of Vinton; his parents, Bernard and Sally Ollinger of Vinton; his brother, Craig (Deb) Ollinger of Sugar Grove, Ill.; his sister, Amy Ollinger of Iowa City; his father and mother-in-law, Marshal and Beverly White of Shellsburg; His brother-in-law, Alan White of Decorah; his sisters-in-law, Laurie (John) Mayhew of Vinton, and Janine (Gale) Rowden of Shellsburg; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Stephanie M. Ollinger-Harry, age 31, of Stevens Point, died October 1, 2016 in Minocqua, Wisconsin.

Stephanie was born August 29, 1985 to Mark & Lynda (White) Ollinger in Vinton, IA. She grew up there and helped her dad on the family farm while attending the local schools. While attending high school, Stephanie enjoyed rallying the Wrestling & Football team as a cheerleader. She also enjoyed remaining very active 4-H volunteer. She graduated from Washington High School in the Vinton-Shellsburg school district in 2004.

She studied Veterinary Science at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, IA. Although Stephanie worked as a Vet Tech, her real calling was in Radio. She won a scholarship to study to be a Radio DJ at Brown College in Minneapolis, MN. Following school, Stephanie shared her love of music with listeners in Minneapolis, MN; Madison, WI; Waterloo, IA; and most recently in the Wausau and Stevens Point, WI area.

Stephanie married the love of her life, John Harry, September 19, 2014 in Madison, WI.

Stephanie will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, passion for music, and love for friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, cooking, attending live concerts, and adored being in the company of her husband while having a few beers.

She is survived by her husband, John Harry of Stevens Point; brother, Matthew (Morgan) Ollinger of Garrison, IA; nephew, Benjamin; mother, Lynda Ollinger of Cedar Rapids, IA; father-in-law, Paul (Sarah) Harry of Maple Grove, MN; and mother-in-law, Jean (Karl) Stadstad of Morristown, AZ. She is further survived by sister-in-law, Jenny (John) Huerd of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law, Ellie Harry of Maple Grove, MN; brother-in-law, Riley McFarland of Maple Grove, MN; brother-in-law, Jarad Mulder of Brooklyn Park, MN; and best friend, Lauren (Bobby) Udell of Cedar Rapids, IA.

She is preceded in death by father, Mark; and sister-in-law, Catherine.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Boston Funeral Home. A Time of Sharing Memories will be held on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Occupation: On-air radio personality at stations in Waterloo, Minneapolis, Madison, and at WYTE-FM in Stevens Point-Wasau when she died. Cause of death: Stephanie died suddenly and unexpectedly on a Saturday morning, in a rural cabin where she and her husband were planning to celebrate their second anniversary. Her husband found her deceased when he arrived at the cabin. An autopsy was inconclusive as to the cause of death. She had been involved in a fairly serious automobile accident on September 29, but walked away with no apparent injury. The autopsy did not indicate that there was any relationship between the accident and her unexpected death.

Cliff Moubry, 72, Dies in Texas

Funeral services were held for Cliff Moubry, 72, of Shellsburg, Thursday afternoon at the Palo Methodist church. The Rev. B. A. Weldlandt officiated at the services. Mr. Moubry, a former resident of the Urbana community, died of a heart attack Sunday morning in McAllen, Texas, where he and his wife had gone to spend the winter.

Mr. Moubry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Moubry, was born Sept. 17, 1885, near Shellsburg. He married Dora Johnson on April 7, 1904.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. Leland "Marie" Cantonwine of Shellsburg; Faye Moubry of Novelty, Mo.; James of Palo; Arnold of Vinton, and Elzo of Tulsa, Okla. Fourteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.

Internment was in the Palo cemetery with the Fry and Holland Funeral home of Vinton in charge of arrangements.

He was buried in 1958 in Palo Cemetery, Palo, Linn Co., IA, Findagrave #51933971.

Miss Leota Rogers of Novelty and Faye Moubry of Vinton, la., were married in Memphis at 9 o’clock last Thursday morning by the Rev H. V. McColloch, pastor of the Memphis Presbyterian Church.

The bride was attired in a dress of powder blue lace and the bridegroom wore a grey suit.

Mrs. Moubry is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rogers of southwest of Novelty. She attended and graduated from Novelty High School and also attended Kirksville Teachers College. She has taught her home school, Mote, southwest of Novelty the last four years and has been re-employed for her fifth term next year.

Mr. Moubry is superintendent for the Concrete Materials Co. of Cedar Rapids, la., and is now supervising construction on Highway No. 21 west of Vinton. He and his bride will make their home in Vinton for the present.

The Rev. Cecil Warren Johnson, 92, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in his home following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton, by the Rev. Bill Black. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Warren was born Jan. 6, 1910, on a farm in rural Benton County, one of two sons of Earl and Sylvia (Fish) Johnson. He grew up, lived and worked on his parents farm.

In 1931, he was converted to Christ in a tent revival in Shellsburg, conducted by the late Rev. Lafe Hoff. He attended LIFE Bible School in Los Angeles, Calif. On Oct. 10, 1935, he was united in marriage to the Rev. Ruby Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Ruby preceded Warren in death on Dec. 28, 1991.

Their entire married life was spent in the Christian ministry with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. They pastured churches in a number of different states and Canada. Between pastorates they worked as evangelists. In 1970, they were sent by the Foursquare Church as missionary evangelists to the Orient and the South Pacific, ministering in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Australia. The spent nearly a year in this work. The Rev. Johnson was honored in 1996 by the Foursquare Organization for 60 years of faithful ministry and received the Distinguished Service Award in 1999.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Johnson and wife Charlie of Galveston, Texas; his grandson, Tim Johnson and wife Laura and their three daughters of Fremont, Calif.; two granddaughters, Tami Grimmius and husband Henry and their daughter of Fresna (sic), Calif., and Tiffany Johnson of Frisco, Texas; his brother, Dale Johnson of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial fund has been established.

Betty June Johnson, 80, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in the Elkader Care Center after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Edgewood Bible Church, by the Rev. Kenton Troyer. Burial: Strawberry Point Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Strawberry Point.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; three sons, Robert of Pueblo, Colo., and Randall and Bryon (sic), both of Strawberry Point; and a daughter, Gayle Christie of Hinsdale, Ill.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

E.B. “Al” Moubry

E.B. “Al” Moubry, 81, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2004 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born on Sept. 11, 1922 in Shellsburg, Iowa to James C. and Dora M. Moubry.

Upon completion of high school and two years of college, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. He flew with the 460th Bomber group, 15th Air Force and was stationed in Spinazzola, Italy from 1944-1945. He obtained the rank of S/Sgt., flew on the B24 Liberators as a ball-turret gunner. He served in the Mediterranean and the European Theaters with over 40 sorties to his credit.

Upon his honorable discharge, he began to work in the excavation and road construction field. He was a sales representative for over 20 years for a large heavy duty equipment company in the New England area. Upon his retirement he moved back to the Booneville area to be close to family and friends. He attended First United Methodist Church in Booneville.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 9, at Roberts Memorial Chapel with burial in Glendale Cemetery near Booneville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Glenda S. Moubry of the home; two sons, Grant Moubry of Carlisle, Penn. and Steve Moubry of Bedford, Texas; one daughter, Patricia Anderson of McLean, Va.; one stepson, Phil Hicks of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Trent Norton, Stanley Norton, Judson Norton, Joe Earp, Jared Walker, David Jewell, Justin Jewell and Scott Parker.

Moubry formerly was employed by the Concrete Materials and Construction company.

Glenda Sue Moubry, 82, of Booneville, Arkansas, died on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Greenwood, Arkansas. She was born April 14, 1935 in Booneville, Arkansas to the late Celester and Merle (Pettigrew) Selby.

She was retired from Wal-Mart and was a member of the Glendale Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, E.B. "Al" Moubry and a son, Jeffrey Hicks.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Glendale Cemetery near Booneville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
