Homer Evans, age 90, 440 West Race St., Portland, passed away Wednesday in Millers Merry Manor in Dunkirk.
He was born in Portland, August 10, 1921, the son of Homer and Susan Gertrude (Gross) Evans. He was married February 9, 1946 to Martha J. Deaver, who survives. He retired in 1989 as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He was a member of Portland Elks Lodge, Portland Moose Lodge, Jay Lodge #87 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite and Bryant Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Leever of Versailles, IN; and two granddaughters, Michelle and Kristen Leever.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Strietelmeier presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12-3 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army.
He was buried in March 2012 in Green Park Cemetery, Portland, Jay Co., IN, Findagrave #86930335.

Norma Elaine Priest Kennett 86, of Indianapolis, passed February 6, 2011. She was born September 22, 1924 in Portland, IN, the daughter of the late Eber Jared and Jesteene (Gross) Priest.
She was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church. Norma attended Taylor University, and graduated from the University of Michigan as an RN. She was a graduate of Indiana University, where she received her Bachelor's in Nursing (1959). Also, she received her Master's in Education from Butler University (1975).
She worked as a public health nurse for the Marion County Health Department. She taught in the School of Nursing at the University of Indianapolis and worked as a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital East.
Norma is survived by her children, Rebecca (Mark) Holm, Nathan Kennett, Stephen (Elana) Kennett and Mary A. Kennett (Janet Stackpole); her siblings include Char Priest, Virginia Sutherland, Glenn Priest, Hugh Priest, David Priest, Diane Jackson; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Holm; friend, Paul Kennett.
She was buried in February 2011 in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, Findagrave #65293530.

Paul Rankin Kennett, born Dec. 21, 1926, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2016 at Franklin United Methodist Community. Born in Monticello, Kentucky, he resided in Indianapolis most of his adult life.
He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Detroit Diesel Allison after 43 years. From his childhood in the Depression, to well into his eighties, his vegetable gardens provided for family, friends and strangers alike.
He was a voracious reader with an impressive knowledge of history, geography and literature.
He is survived by his children: David Kennett (Florence), Rebecca Holm (Mark), Nathan Kennett, Stephen Kennett (Elana Floyd), and Mary Kennett (Janet Stackpole); 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Toole. He is also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ray Kennett and Elmo Ramsey; and sisters: Mary White, Lucille Turner and Ruth Conn.
