Obituary -- Napa Valley Register ; California - Monday, August 11, 2014:
1922-2014
Marjorie 'Mickey' Irene Corchero
Our mom went peacefully on Aug. 7, 2014. Mom was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Walter and Julia Childers. She was the second eldest of six children. She grew up in Grants Pass and learned to swim in the beautiful Rogue River. Mom first saw our dad, Leland, in Ashland, Oregon, and immediately told her friends that she was going to marry the handsome soldier. They were married six weeks later, on Sept. 5, 1942, and after the war, settled in San Jose, California.
They raised eight kids in a three-bedroom, one-bath house; just the way it was done back then. After Dad died in 1989, Mom moved to Napa to be near her daughter, Sherrie. Mom loved her family, the Giants, playing bingo, fishing and the nickel machines in Reno. You could find her many nights at the bingo hall spending time with her friends and playing "cherry bells."
Great thanks to daughter Sherrie, her husband, David, and their kids for the care they gave to Mom over the last 20 years as she battled many illnesses, including dementia.
Mom is survived by her children and their spouses, Marjorie Sullivan (Bob), Fred (Nancy), Daniel (Cindy), Tom (Terry), Steve (Frances), Marty (Martha), Zachary and Sherrie Crespin (David); 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
