Voy Joe Boots was born on 6 February 1895 in Deer Creek Twp., Pickaway Co., OH.1 He married Leota Ellen Schadle on 18 September 1916 in Ross Co., OH, This marriage lasted a few years -- they were together as of the 1920 census, but obviously divorced by the time Voy remarried in 1925. Leota was living with her parents in 1930, marital status "D". No evidence of any children. He and Leota Ellen Schadle were divorced before August 1925. He married Minnie E. Alkire, daughter of Abraham Lincoln Alkire and Mary Jane Hughes, on 31 August 1925 in Franklin Co., OH, This marriage appears to have broken up by 1940. In the 1940 census, Minnie Boots is listed as married, a domestic servant, but Voy was not listed with her. On his WW II draft registration, Voy gave his sister Theureda Dooley as his emergency contact. No evidence of any children. Voy Joe Boots married Frances M. Alkire, Frances was first married to Harold T. Geibelhouse, a WW I veteran, on 18 AUG 1923, Franklin County, Ohio. Harold died in 1928, with no children. He died on 6 February 1963 in Doctors Hospital North, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

He was buried in February 1963 in Galloway Cemetery, Galloway, Franklin Co., OH, Findagrave #30808195.

Ted R. Pontious, age 71, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 30, 2013 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Owner and Operator of Ted's Marathon Station located on Rome Hilliard Rd for 22 years. Member Westside Freewill Baptist Church. Avid Sports fan, Loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by parents William and Evelyn Pontious, nephew Mark Pennington.

Survived by wife of 49 years, Joan Pontious; children, Rose Marie (Mark) VanVoorhis, Paula Faye (Jamie) Wells; grandson, Cole James Theodore Wells; brothers and sisters, Larry (Mac) Pontious, Marti (Gus) Loyal, Bill Pontious, Sue (Don) Smith, and Jim (Sharon) Pontious; sister-in-law, Lynda (Ron) McCoy; aunt, Janet (Wayne) Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Monday 5-8 p.m., where service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Tim Boyd officiating. Interment Alton Cemetery.
