Florence Evelyn Hider, 96, of Marietta, formerly of Parkersburg, died at the Marietta Center.
She was born in Calabogie, Ontario, Canada, on June 17, 1914, and was the daughter of the late William Day and Norah Johnston Wilson. She had been a member of the First Christian Church in Parkersburg.
Survivors include her son, Robert W. Hider; daughter, Carolyn D. Hunter of Marietta; daughter-in-law, Marcia A. Hider of Columbus; grandchildren, Steven Hider, Erin Nowilaty, Jill (David) Peters, all of Columbus, Tara (Michael) Hupp of Marietta, Scott (Annie) Hunter of St. Charles, Ill., and Brent (Angela) Hunter of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 great-grandchildren; a niece, Dawn Hardy of Michigan; and her caregiver of over 12 years, Robin Barth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Franklin Hider Jr., in 1999; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be private, with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society.
She was buried in July 2010 in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, Wood Co., WV, Findagrave #55398878.

Rodney Stewart, 71, of Belpre, OH, died Sept. 26, 2016, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born May 2, 1945, in Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late Rodney and Maggie Ball Stewart.
Rod was a 1963 graduate of Belpre High School. Rod spent more than 40 years designing and building numerous small and large-scale commercial and industrial projects. He was well-known and sought after for his expertise in project development. Rod had no formal education but was self-taught.
His global projects included several potato storage facilities in Russia; rice storage facilities and a school in China; barracks and helicopter hangars for Italian Peacekeeping forces in Kosovo; a cotton auction warehouse in Zimbabwe, cotton seed storage warehouses in Togo, and the border crossing station between Russia and Estonia consisting of more than 20 buildings and facilitated civilian, tourist, and commercial crossings. His projects also took him to Yemen, Ethiopia, and Pakistan. He left many marks in the Mid-Ohio Valley, including the original Middleton Doll Factory, WV Central Credit Unions in Vienna and South Parkersburg, Vienna Foodland, Mid-Ohio Valley Medical Group in Vienna and Belpre, Western Sizzlin' Restaurant in Lubeck, many Family Dollar Stores around WV and OH, Foodfair Grocery Stores in Wellston, OH and Grayson, KY, and various other buildings/facilities in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha Stewart; his daughter, Tracina Stewart, of Portland, OR; two sisters, Sharon Zoller and her husband, John, of Coolville, OH, and Sheila Stewart of Colfax, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Rod's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 4 PM at JP Henry's on Emerson Avenue in Parkersburg.

He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Wood County, a son of the late William and Dora Yoho Dowler. He was an equipment operator for Bosley Construction, and he attended Big Tygart United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Mable Dowler; one son, Eric Dowler of Davisville; four daughters, Paulette Lemon and Erica Dowler of Davisville, Ronda Lynch of Washington and Connie Dowler of Baton Rouge, La.; four brothers, Virgil Dowler of Mineral Wells, Wayne and Frank Dowler of Parkersburg and Milford Dowler of Texas; one sister, Mamie Drain of Parkersburg; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Leona Morris, Eloise Dowler, and Freida Batten; and two brothers, Etsel and Gene Dowler.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
