Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

Obituary-Olney Times-June 26, 1889

"Monday morning, about 9 o'clock, word came to this city that a man had been found dead in a road cart about a quarter of a mile north of the P.D.E.R.R. tank, and Dr. J.H. Hundley was summoned, but on arriving near Winer's house, he found the person was dead, who proved to be Jacob Parker, a known and respected citizen of Madison township. The body was brought to the city, and Esq. Shelby , acting coroner, called a jury to meet in Dr. N.R. Allen's office, where an inquest was held. The body was first discovered by Herman Christy, who was at work in a field, and seeing a horse without a driver, went to stop the horse, which was walking slowly, and found the body of Mr. Parker, held by his feet, hanging over the edge of the cart, his left hand dragging in the road. He had been seen just before by Geo. Chauncey, to whom Mr. Parker nodded. Drs. Hundley, Allen and Van Coagdon held an autopsy, and upon their report and the evidence of witness the jury, after adjoining until Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, brought in a verdict that he came to his death by heart disease. It was first reported that he was shot, but medical examination disproved this. He is not the first of the family that have died of this disease, although he left home apparently in good health. Mr. Parker was 47 years of age, a son of Jas. H. Parker, and leaves a wife and four children. He was a former member of the County Board and an active and prominent Democratic politician. His funeral took place at Parkersburg yesterday afternoon and was largely attended.

He was buried in June 1889 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Richland Co., IL, Findagrave #43227084.
