Mrs. Eda Belle Barnes, aged 71 years, who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mark Thomson in south Olney Township, died last week. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Bethel M. E. church with burial in the Bethel cemetery.

Olney Advocate, 1929:

Mrs. Ida Belle Barnes, widow of the late Wm. Barnes, passed away last Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mark Thomson, in south Olney township. She was 71 years of age. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Bethel M. E. church. Besides Mrs. Thomson she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Ed. Bowen.

He was buried in April 1922 in Bethel Cemetery, Parkersburg, Richland Co., IL, Findagrave #38633031.

Nancy Amanda Barnes, daughter of John and Margaret Barnes, was born July 1, 1856 at McsBurg, IL, and died at the home of her son near Olney, October 4, 1923, age 67y3m3d. She married Robert Bently Newell September 30, 1878, six children were born: Myrtle who preceded her in death, Charles Ernest of Aberdeen, SD, James Starr of St. Louis, Mrs. Flossie Newell Barnhart, of Olney, Clifford Tanner, of Shamokin, PA and Leslie Paul of Olney. Also two sisters, Mrs. Laura Williams of Olney and Mrs. Cora Kinkade of Parkersburg survive.

She was buried in October 1923 in Bethel Cemetery, Parkersburg, Richland Co., IL, Findagrave #38633428.
