Edwin J. Stoll, 72, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Oblong, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stoll was born March 11, 1936, in Olney, the son of Edwin Joseph and Margaret (Williams) Stoll.
He attended school in Olney, transferring to Kemper Military School in Booneville, Mo. He worked in Des Moines, Iowa, and for Cuckler Steel Span Co. in Georgia before returning to Illinois to partner with his brother in purchasing the West Salem Advocate newspaper. He later moved to Vincennes, Ind., to be a printing and Linotype instructor at Vincennes University. In 1969, he purchased the Oblong Oracle and Palestine Register weekly newspapers and moved to Oblong where he and his wife, Judy, raised their four children, In 1984, he moved to Arlington, Texas, and worked for DFW Suburban Newspapers, later moving to Tucson, Arizona, in 1999. He enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, hiking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Stoll is survived by his son, Jon Stoll and grandsons, Seth and Jaylen, of Crowley, Texas; daughter, Anne Lewis and grandchildren, Nicole and Maurice, of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Kelly Gonzales, her husband, Michael, and grandsons, Jared and Connor, of Tulsa, Okla; daughter-in-law, Becky Densmore-Stoll and grandson, Josh, of Champaign; granddaughter Valerie Chillingworth, and great-grandson, Xander, of Robinson; former wife, Judy Stoll of Rantoul; sister, Jeanine Stage, of Minnesota; brother, Joseph Stoll, of Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Stoll and his sister, Joanne Joiner.

BONDVILLE - Memorial services for Brian Muriel Stoll, 40, of Bondville will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mittendorf-Calvert Funeral Home, 2400 Galen Drive, C. The Rev. Robert Freeman will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stoll died at 9:20 a.m. Friday at his home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1961, in Princeton, Ind., a son of Edwin J. and Judith Rae Stoll. He married Rebecca Sue Densmore on Sept. 10, 1988, in Ludlow.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Joshua Stoll of Rantoul; a daughter, Valerie Stoll of Rantoul; a brother, Jon Stoll of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Anne Lewis of Tucson, Ariz., and Kelly Gonzales of Tulsa, Okla.
Mr. Stoll was a graduate of Oblong High School. He held five ASE certificates in automotive technology while attending Parkland College and a petroleum technology certificate while attending Lincoln Trail College in Robinson.
He has been a member of the Bondville Volunteer Fire Department since 1991, and was a mail handler with the U.S. Postal Service in Champaign.
He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Illinois State Rifle Association, and he was enrolled with the Southern Cherokee Nation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carle Cancer Center or Bondville Volunteer Fire Department.
