Feb. 12, 1914. Mrs. B.U. Bassham died at her home at the Bassham hotel Monday morning, age 74 yrs. 8 months and 25 days. Funeral service was held at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon. Interment at the north cem. Her maiden name was Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Crouch born May 15, 1839 in Washington County Tenn. Married in 1853 to John Chinowth, and to them five children were born. Due to the death of her first husband she marriedd Benjamin U. Bassham in June 22, 1876. She is survived by her husband and two sons Henry M. and Joseph Chinowth of this city- one brother and one sister. Joseph J. Crouch and Mrs. Mary Saxton of Jacksonville one brother in California three step children.
She was buried in 1914 in Oakwood Cemetery, Greenfield, Greene Co., IL, Findagrave #44109690.
