Mrs. Martha Morris expired at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the home of her son Warren. The deceased had been in poor health for some time, but her recent illness was due to a stroke of paralysis which she suffered one week ago, and was the immediate cause of her death. She was a pioneer resident of Tazewell County. She was born in Christian county, Illinois in 1839 and removed with her parents to Tazewell county when only 9 years of age. She was united in marriage with Robert Morris of Tremont April 5, 1855. Four children were born to this union, only one, the son, surviving. Her husband passed away several years ago. She also leaves eleven grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Antioch church on Wednesday at 1 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G. W. Ballinger, assistant pastor of the Baptist church in Tremont. Burial took place in the Antioch cemetery.
