Laura B. Farris , 97, of Allen, Texas a former longtime resident of Paris passed away June 19, 2015 in Allen. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Reagan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. There will be no visitation hour at the funeral home but friends may come by the funeral home to sign register.

Mrs. Farris was born on April 18, 1918 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma a daughter of James William and Goldie Ethel McMasters Larimore. She was a secretary/clerk of Phoenix Federal Loan, a graduate of Bartlesville High School, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris.

She married Floyd Elmer Farris on October 11, 1936 in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2000. Mrs. Farris was also preceded in death by a son James W. Farris in March 19,1995 and her parents.

Survivors include a son Kenneth Wayne Farris and wife Marcia, daughter Barbara Ann Graves and a daughter-in-law Ginna Farris. Mrs. Farris is also survived by grandchildren Steve Graves and wife Dixie, Lauren Graves and husband Ray Chen, David Farris and wife Suzanne, James Shelby (Sheb) Farris and wife Camille, Douglas C. Farris and wife Kimberly, Brian P. Farris and Anna E. Farris and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Steve Graves, James Shelby Farris, Douglas C. Farris, Brian Farris and great-grandsons Paul Farris and Jackson Graves.

GRAVES, Barbara Farris Barbara Farris Graves, born January 18, 1938, died peacefully in her daughter's home on January 7, 2016. In spite of her diagnosis of cancer 10 years ago, Barbara maintained a positive outlook and strong faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Laura and Elmer Farris and her brother Jim Farris. Barbara is survived by her son Steve Graves, daughter Lauren Graves, and brother Ken Farris. She was much loved by her family including daughter-in-law Dixie Graves; son-in-law Ray Chen; grandchildren Jackson, Kerri, Eleanor, and Elijah; sisters-in-law Marcia and Ginna; and her nieces and nephews David, Sheb, Doug, Brian, and Anna. Barbara earned a PhD in English from the University of Oklahoma and taught at Greenhill School in Dallas for over 25 years where she touched the lives of many students and faculty in ways that live on today. She was proud to be invited to the U.S. Army War College in 1978 as a civilian participant in the National Security Seminar and of the book Lyric Voices which she wrote with Don McBain on rock and roll lyrics as poetry. Of herself she says, "As much as I considered myself a feminist who wanted a world of cooperation and peace rather than competition and conflict, I treasured family above all." Memorials may be made to Greenhill School or to the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2pm at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX.
