Ethel A., 91, a longtime Midwest City resident, was born to John S. and Sarah Deming near Carney, OK on December 26, 1903, and died December 16, 1995 in Stillwater. Mrs. Hobbs lived on the family farm outside Carney until coming to Oklahoma City after graduating high school, and attended Hill's Business College, where she met T.J. Hobbs, her husband of 34 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs lived in the Sentinel area until moving to Midwest City in 1943, where Mrs. Hobbs was active in civic affairs. She was a charter member of the Del City Church of Christ, and served the church as a hostess for the Deacon's Bar Group. She also was part of the Visitation Group, cooked for meals-on-wheels, and helped with BVS. She was a charter member of the OCC Women's Assoc., and was also a member of the MWC Garden Club, the Study Club #3, and the Home Demonstration Club. She w as an active gardener, and enjoyed needlework, quilting and knitting.
Mrs. Hobbs was especially proud of her work in the Midwest City Post #170 of the American Legion Auxiliary, and had held varioud local offices, including that of Oklahoma Department President for 1964-65.
Mrs. Hobbs is survived by her son, Jack Hobbs, of Tryon, OK; 3 grandchildren, Vince Hobbs, Lawton, Ok, Tony Hobbs, Stillwater, Ok, and Sue Clemens, Valparaiso, IN. and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesay, December 20, 1995, at Arlington Memory Gardens.

Tony Jack Hobbs, 61, of Stillwater, Oklahoma died suddenly of a brief illness on July 27, 2015.
Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Tony was born in Del City, OK on November 19, 1953. He grew up in Gary, Indiana and Stillwater. Tony enjoyed camping, fishing, and athletics. In his early adult life, Tony was a member of bike and running clubs; participated in many runs, races, and marathons; and especially enjoyed being a part of Free Wheel Oklahoma, the Enchanted Circle Bike Ride, and the Okie Relay.
Tony and former wife Kay Heath owned and operated The Paper Hanger's Place, Coyote Concepts, and flipped houses before people “flipped houses.” Professionally, Tony was a jack -of-all-trades: expert paper hanger, decorative concrete floor and patio finisher, and painter. He was a collector of vintage Airstreams and had a great appreciation of for art, being an accomplished painter himself. He was also the owner/manager of the Ice House as well as Campus Court in Stillwater.
Tony was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Jackie Hobbs; and grandparents, Jack and Ethel Hobbs, and Tony and Maude Anderson.
He is survived by sons, Brian Hobbs (Mark Sarno) and Nathan Hobbs; brother, Vince Hobbs (Betty); sister, Sue Clemens (Steve); nieces, Stacy Kolbe (Scott), Brandi Hobbs; nephews, Steve (Jackie) Carnahan and Scott (Paula) Carnahan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Stillwater Medical Center Foundation, PO Box 2408, Stillwater, OK 74076.
