Battle of Sons' Keeps Mimlitz Clan Neutral

Emotions were mixed last night for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mimlitz when they attended the high school basketball game between Mercy and CBC.

The reason -- their oldest son, Jack, coached the Mercy team and their other son, Joe, played on the CBC team.

"We're going to sit in the middle of the floor," said Mr. Mimlitz before the game. "Then we won't show any partiality.:

Jack, 22, assumed the head coaching reins last September after starting for CBC under it's coach, D. C. Wilcutt, and at St. Louis U. Brother Joe is a sophomore on the current team.

"We've never experienced anything like this before," said Mrs. Mimlitz before the game. "It means so much to both boys."

"I'll be glad when it is over," she said.

The team could meet two more times this season. Both are in the Normandy Christmas tournament and they are in the same regional bracket next March for the State eliminations.

The parents follow every game and even drove to Cape Girardeau two weeks ago, but missed the CBC game there because of a snowstorm.

Mantle's and Mimlitz' Parents Here for Games

Mrs. Lova Mantle of Commerce, Okla., mother of Mickey Mantle, New York Yankee baseball player, and Larry (Butch) Mantle, Moberly Junior College Greyhound basketball player, was in Moberly to see her son, Larry, play ball Friday and Saturday nights.

"..........................................................................................................

......................................................................................................................"

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mimlitz of St. Louis also were here to see their son Joe Mimlitz play at the two games.

Mantle and Mimlitz are living in the home of Mr. and Mrs. K. O. Dixon and the three parents, who stayed at the Merchants Hotel, visited in the Dixon home while here.
