John Robert Stanley, Sr. 76, Lawrence, Kansas, formerly of Fairway, died yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Stanley lived most of his life in the Kansas City, Kansas area. He was a telegraph operator 43 yrs. for Wilson & Co. before he retired in 1956 and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roeland Park.
Surviving are a son, John R. Stanley, Jr of Lawrence; 3 daughters, Mrs. Mary V. Swanson-Denver; Miss Aileen Stanley, Cape Kennedy, FL and Miss Betty Jean Stanley-Olathe, KS; a sister, Mrs. Ester M Roberts, 517 W 85 Terr and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 7:45 pm Monday at the Gates Chapel, and at 8:15 PM at the church; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM Sunday night at the Chapel, where friends may call after 2 PM.

Bunker Hill, Dec. 19. - (Tribune Special) - Mrs. Mary Simmons, age 75, died at 2
p.m. Friday at her home, six miles southwest of Peru, after being ill for
several years with heart ailment.
She was born July 2, 1861 in Pipe Creek township, Miami county, and was reared
there, the daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth Coblentz, She married William Stoner
on March 20, 1881. Four children were born to them. Mr. Stoner died July 25,
1888 and later married George Simmons who died Dec. 16, 1915.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dora Metzgar of near Peru and Misses
Mary and Edna Stoner. Her son Marvin Stoner, died in 1932. There are four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She leaves also two half-brothers,
William and Isaac Coblentz, living in the same community with her and a
step-sister, Mrs. Dora York of Indianapolis.
She was a member of the Dunkard Brethrens church. Funeral services will be held
at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, west of Nead, with
the Rev. Thomas Shively in charge. Burial will be in the Metzgar cemetery. Mrs.
Simmons had expressed a wish that flowers by obitted at her funeral, which
request will be respected.

Peru - Miss May Stoner, 82, Peru R.R. 4, died at 7:10 a.m. Monday in the Dukes
Memorial Hospital after a two year illness.
Born in Cass County, Aug. 2, 1886, she was the daughter of William and Mary
(Coblentz) Stoner.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Plevna.
Survivors are one sister, Miss Edna Stoner, and two step-nieces and a
step-nephew raised by the sisters, Mrs. Richard Wolf, Taylor, Mich.; Mrs. Newton
Rowland, Lincoln Park, Mich., and Avery Myers, Fowler.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Drake-Flowers Chapel with
the Rev. Willis Maugans officiating. Burial will be in the Metzgar Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Death followed and extended illness.
Born July 1, 1888, in Cass County, she was the daughter of William and Mary
Coblentz Stoner.

WEST ALEXANDRIA, Ohio -- Jane Marie Peterman, 77, died Monday, July 19, 2010.
Born May 16, 1933, in Butler County to Harry and Lois Miles Coffey, she retired in 1999 as a certified medical staff coordinator at St. Joseph Hospital.
Survivors include husband, Ed; daughters, Susan Neitzel, Janet Adams and Greta Traore; sisters Mary Ann Gregg and Julie Burneson.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria. Visitation will be 7 - 9 tonight at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funderal Home, West Alexandria.
Memorials may be made to Jane Peterman Memorial Fund of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1311 Holman Ave., Houston, TX 77004.

Jane Marie (Coffey) Peterman was born May 16, 1933 to Harry Vanness and Lois Corabell (Miles) Coffey in Butler County, Ohio. She was baptized and confirmed as a member of the Oxford Methodist Church in Oxford, Ohio. She attended the historic William McGuffey School and later graduated from Miami University in 1955 with a degree in secondary education.
She married Edwin D. Peterman on February 5, 1955 and moved to Chicago, where their daughter Susa was born. They relocated to St. Louis in 1961, where their daughters Janet and Greta were born. In 1968 they moved to Houston, where she was an active homemaker and member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, played tuba in the brass choir, served on Altar Guild, taught Sunday Church School, directed Vacation Church School, and served as President of the Board of the Christ the King Lutheran Church Foundation. She was also a Girl Scout leader, a teaching assistant, and an elected board member of both the Houston and the Texas chapters of the League of Women Voters. In 1999 she retired from her position as a certified medical staff coordinator at St. Joseph Hospital. In 2007 she and Ed became members of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on Altar Guild.
On Monday, July 19, 2010, Jane's life on earth came to completion.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Ed; three daughters, Susa Neitzel of Houston, Janet (& John) Adams of MN, and Greta (& Ibrahima)Traoré of NY; six grandchildren, Sabrina (& Johnny) Smitherman; Sarah, Joseph and Emma Barber, Djoumé and Salif Traoré; two sisters, Mary Ann (& Ernie) Gregg of Colorado, and Julie (& John) Burneson of Ohio; as well as many other relatives and friends.
