Word has been received of the June 13, 2001 passing of a former resident Ronald “Ron” E. Dickmeyer in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marjorie (Marge Crosby) Dickmeyer, formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana; three children, Dorothy (Dody) Katz of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Thomas (Tom) of Overland Park, Kansas and James (Jim) of LaPaz, Bolivia, three grandchildren, Joel Katz and Andrew and Kenneth Dickmeyer; also surviving are three sisters and two brothers.
Ron was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, March 6, 1925. He attended Valparaiso University where he played basketball in the 1940’s. The family suggests that as a memorial, friends are invited to send a written memory of Ron to he family, which will be compiled into a memory book. The family home is 3828 Clark Road, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
