Gerald Dennis Lyne, Sr., was born on 19 March 1918 in Oran, Scott Co., MO.1 He married Thelma Terry, daughter of Robert Terry and Lucy May Lee. Gerald Dennis Lyne, Sr., married Retta Anthony on 29 January 1966, Retta was first married to Dave Parker on 21 DEC 1940, Pope County, Arkansas. They had children Ronald and Deloris. Gerald D. Lyne Sr., 85, of Delta, died at 12:40 p.m. Jan. 14, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 19, 1918, in Oran, son of the late Edmond S. and Fannie Lobmaster Lyne Sr., he served in Civilian Conservation Corps before World War II. He served 22 years with the U.S. Air Force, retiring March 1, 1966, as a technical sergeant. In May 1972, he received a bachelor of arts degree in agriculture from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau and retired in 1978 as a self-employed farmer.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Oran, he was an honorary member of the Randles General Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for 27 years. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a past master of Whitewater Masonic Lodge 417 and member of Sam Davis Masonic Lodge 661 in Smyrna, Tenn. He was a Shriner with the AINAD Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of East St. Louis, IL. Also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Southern Illinois, he was a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill in Jackson. Lyne was named to Who's Who in Indian Artifacts and published a children's book, "Grandpa's Stories."

He was first married to Thelma Terry who preceded him in death in 1963.

On Jan. 29, 1966, he married Retta M. Parker who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Joyce Parker; one daughter and son-in-law, Deloris Jackson and Clifton Trentham.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Gerald "Denny" Lyne Jr.; two sisters, Gladys Stuart and Dorothy Montgomery; one brother, Edmond S. Lyne Jr.; and one grandson, Doug Parker.

Visitation was at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where the Whitewater Masonic Lodge will conduct rites.

Services were scheduled at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Price and Bob Murray officiating.

Full graveside military honors were conducted at the Friend Cemetery at Oran.

Pallbearers were: David Parker, Ron Pruett, Chris Hornbuckle, James Hornbuckle, Mitchell Jackson, Harold Lancaster and Kevin Parker.

Services were held in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon for Robert Terry, 90, who died at Chickasawba Hosptial in Blytheville November 24. The Rev. Malcolm Sample officiated and burial was in Maple Cemetery.

He was born in Richwood, Mo., March 4, 1882, the son of James Henry and Eliza Elizabeth Terry. In Scott County, in December 1904, he was married to Miss Lucy May Lee, who preceded him in death in 1929. In January 1935, he was married to Mrs. Mabel Bruce Brown, who also preceded him in death, on February 24, 1963.

He was married to Mrs. Goldie May Woods in Kennett May 19, 1964.

Mr. Terry engaged in painting and decorating. Prior to moving to Caruthersville he was a conservation agent and was active in preservation of wildlife in the state. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and on October 1 received a bar for eight straight years of perfect Sunday school attendance.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Goldie Terry of Caruthersville; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Long of Holly, Mich., Mrs. Stella Reed of Sikeston and Miss June Terry of Ferndale, Mich.; Two step-sons, Eugene and Carl Anderson of Caruthersville; a half-sister, Mrs. Jaennette Nulsen of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Wilburn A. Montgomery, 71, of Ellsinore died Monday at his home.

He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mt. Zion General Baptist Church.

Mr. Montgomery was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Yantis, Texas. On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Dorothy M. Lyne. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Maj. Edmund L. Montgomery of Washington D.C., and Daniel P. Montgomery of Ellsinore; one daughter, Dee Bone of Wappapello; one brother, Eddie Montgomery of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at McSpadden Funeral Chapel in Ellsinore, with Rev. Laddie Boyer offficiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
