PIEDMONT - Services for Lt. Col. William Marion Allred, 81, of Piedmont will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont. Burial with full military honors will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Allred died Saturday at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hughes Allred; two daughters, Marian Elaine Allred of Summerville, Ga., Joyce Denise Allred Montgomery and her husband, Edmond L., of Huntsville, Texas; three sons, Rodney V. Allred of Rome, Ga., Larry W. Allred and his wife, Diana, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Thomas R. Mr. Allred remained a permanent resident of Piedmont as he traveled abroad in service to his country. He was a combat veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict with more than 25 years service. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

William Samuel Witt, 56, farmer of the Tulare-Visalia district, died Tuesday night in a Modesto hospital. He is survived by his wife, O'Della Grace Witt, seven sons, Ernest of Goshen, Tom of Watsonville and George, Fred, Norman, John and William Witt, Jr., all of Tulare; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Abel, Miss Edith Witt, Mrs. Ethel LaBlue, Miss Ode Belle Witt, and Mrs. Mary Cloe, all of Tulare; and a brother, Jim Witt of Watsonville.
