A funeral service for Martha E. Wagner, 100, of Mount Vernon, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Rev. John Capper officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.
Friends may call 10-11 am, Saturday, March 18 at the funeral home.
She passed away March 13, 2017 at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon.
Daughter of Bert and Della (Wenger) Hawkins.
She was a longtime member of Gay St. United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon and a member of the Eastern Star. Martha was a seamstress and loved to read.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, her daughter, and seven grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, George W. Wagner; son, James Henry Wagner; brothers, Forest and Howard Hawkins; sisters, Eva Warner-Hoar, Ruth Bruce and Theresa Cochran.

Dick was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He had been an employee of the former Jewell Milk Company in Mount Vernon from 1937 to 1945 and was featured as the “Milk Man” in the documentary honoring Mount Vernon as the All American City. Dick had owned and operated Bartlett’s Appliance Store in Mount Vernon from 1946 to 1958. He may be remembered for his “crazy” promotions and contests … “let me give you sixty quarts of strawberries with the purchase of an Amana freezer”. After selling the store in 1958, Dick worked as a furniture manufacturers’ representative traveling the state of Ohio. He retired at age 62 at King’s Gate Club in Nokomis, Florida, and traveled extensively with his wife, Helen. He was a former member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon.
He was buried in September 2008 in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, Mt. Vernon, Knox Co., OH, Findagrave #212095422.

Mrs. R. C. Wright [Jane L. Moore] died on last Thursday morning, June 20th, after a long and protracted sickness. When about three years of age her father died and the late M. D. Coffeen and wife took her to raise. In 1854 she married Mr. R. C. Wright, and with the exception of 3 1/2 years spent in Urbana, has resided here. Nine children were born to them, 6 of whom, 3 sons and 3 daughters are still living. She was a member of the M. E. Church here and her funeral was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Goodspeed, on Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m. after which she was laid to rest by the side of her children in the G.A.R. cemetery. A number of beautiful floral offerings were laid upon her casket the gifts of her friends. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society.)
