Mary Alice Martin Dies
Mary Alice Martin passed away at 1:00 a.m. Sunday at the Dave Gresham residence on Mitchell, R.R. 3 (Lawrenceport), where she resided. She was 87.
Mrs. Martin had been in failing health for several years and critically ill for two months. She formerly resided with a son, Lisman Tyler, on Ninth street and also resided on Tenth street, Bedford.
Mrs. Martin was born March 23, 1872, in Clay County, Ill., to William Henry and Rachel Edwards. She was first married to Henry Tyler in 1889 and he died in 1915. Her second marriage was in 1918 (sic) to William J. Martin, and he preceded her in death in 1945.
Survivors include one son, Lisman Tyler, Bedford, R.R. 1; three brothers – Isaac Edwards of Oolitic, John Edwards of Oolitic and Herbert Edwards of Indio, Calif.; one sister, Lillie Lisman and Carlisle, Indiana; one granddaughter, Phyllis Turner of Indianapolis, and one great-granddaughter, Donna Lee Turner of Indianapolis.
The deceased was a member of the Georgetown Christian Church. Final rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Kenneth Griffith, pastor of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery (Floyd County, Indiana).
