Isabella C. Knight
November 26, 1917 -- March 23, 2003
Isabella C. Knight passed away on March 23, 2003, at Grand Junction Care Center, with her three children at her side. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place Friday, April 11th, at 10 a.m. at First American Baptist Church, 14th and Grant in Denver, Colo.
Mrs. Knight was a bookkeeper for Arapahoe County for 25 years.
She is survived by a son, Ken Johnson of Aurora; two daughters, Hazel Simons of Clifton, and Eva Holloman of Grand Junction; one brother, Harold Welch of Clearwater, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Although Isabella was in Grand Junction only four months, she touched many lives and we are thankful for the care given to her. Her children would especially like to thank Dr. Andrew Mohler and the staff of the Grand Junction Care Center for the professional and loving care given to her in her final days.

Allan Lee Simons, was born in Tahona, OK., to Harry and Sarah Anne Simons, on June 27, 1918, and died July 18, 2010, at Mantey Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
Allan worked in many vocations during his lifetime, including cabinet making, operating heavy equipment, and mining.
Allan met his Lord and Savior, in 1963, and always wanted to serve Him and share God's love with others.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; and three stepchildren: Jenny McCready, of FL., Theresa McCready, of TX., and Glenn McCready, of AZ.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Allan awaits the call from Jesus, to meet Him, and spend eternity with Him, in his heavenly home.
His family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, LaVilla Grande, Mantey Heights, and Hospice Care of Western Colorado for the kind and loving care, given to him. We would also like to express our gratitude to Susan Benak D.D.S., and Drs. Josh Campbell, and Phil Mohler, for their involvement in his care.
A memorial service will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, on July 27, at 10:00 a.m.

Helen Ballmes, 75, of Sterling, died Feb. 7, 1996, in Sterling.
Visitation and viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home with services concluding at the funeral home. Dr. K.D. Bird and Rev. Donovan Notz will officiate.
Mrs. Ballmes was born on June 1, 1920, to Leon and Christine (Notz) Blystone in Manhattan, Kan. She moved to Englewood as a child, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling, she worked at Montgomery Wards and Gates Rubber Co.
She married Harold W. Welch in 1939. They had two children.
She married Darwin Ballmes on Dec. 24, 1947 in Englewood.
They moved to Sterling in 1948. She worked as a grocery checker at Red Owl and Safeway for 12 years. She also worked as a waitress for several restaurants in Sterling. She retired in the early 1970s.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Englewood, the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW and she was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens at the Logan County Heritage Center.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin, of Sterling; a son, Lamont Welch and wife Linda of Vacaville, Calif.; two sisters, Annabelle Olson and husband Rev. Carl of Glendale, Ariz. and Adeline Bird and husband K.D. of Denver; a brother Donovan Notz and wife Jane of Cheyenne, Wyo.; an uncle, Chauncey Notz and wife, Eleanor of Denver; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Ryan Welch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
