She is known as a familiar face behind the counter of several downtown Saugatuck retail shops, including but not limited to: Pee Wee Put-Ons, The Village News, Amantes and Cheryl's. Sue was a regular visitor to Oval Beach, and especially enjoyed dinner and sunset with Ed on the deck at the beach house. Sue was also a faithful member of the local "Round Table" group, and migrated with them across many years and various meeting places. She was also known for taking in stray animals and feeding all manner of furry and feathered creatures in her backyard. Sue was the primary care provider for her husband from the time he had a stroke in 1990 until he died in April of 2007. Despite her own battle with cancer, Sue remained enthusiastic and hopeful about the future. On the day before she died, she attended her radiation appointment and took in two garage sales and a milkshake with friends before returning home.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23rd. The Reverend Edie Winter will preside. Friends and family are invited to gather to continue to celebrate her life at The White House, 149 Griffith St., Saugatuck.
