Mrs. Josie DeHaas Turner, 72, wife of Frank Turner, Greenfield Rt. 2, died at 6:10 A.M. Thursday,
December 31, at Greenfield Municipal Hospital where she was admitted Dec. 22. She had been
in failing health.
Born in Highland County August 4, 1887, she was the daughter of James H. and Martha Wood DeHaas.
She and Mr. Turner were married January 28, 1919.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. J. W. Roads, Greenfield Rt. 1.
Three brothers and a sister predeceased
her.
Services were held Saturday at 2 P.M. in the Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield. Rev. Roy C.
Vandegriff officiated and interment was made in Greenfield Cemetery.

Fatally Hurt as Car Hits Tree
Mrs. Lena Leota DeHaas, 68, of 434 Mirabeau Ave., Greenfield, Ohio died Sunday in City Hospital, Springfield, from injuries suffered when her car struck a tree on Ohio 70, one-half mile south of South Charleston.
State Highway patrolmen said her automobile failed to make a turn, ran off the pavement, then crossed over the highway and struck a tree.
She was going to South Vienna to visit her sister, Mrs. Frank Wipert.
Mrs. DeHass was the widow of Theodore DeHass.
She was born in Ross County on December 30, 1885, a daughter of Henry and Ida Morgan Weast.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Wipert, are four other sisters, Mrs. Vernon Acton of Chillicothe, Route 1, Miss Essie Weast and Mrs. Paul T. Smith, both of Greenfield, and Mrs. C. E. Coleman of Detroit.
A brother and a sister also predeceased her.
Mrs. DeHaas was a member of the Greenfield Methodist Church.
Service will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday at the Murray Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 P.M. Tuesday.
Interment will be in Greenfield Cemetery.

Rites for Auto Victim to be Wednesday
Services for Mrs. Lena Leota DeHaas, 68, of 634 Mirabeau St., Greenfield, fatally injured in a highway accident, will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at the Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield with interment in Greenfield Cemetery.
Mrs. DeHaas was fatally injured when her car struck a tree on Route 70, one-half mile south of South Charleston in Clark County near Springfield.
State patrolmen said her auto failed to make a turn, ran off the pavement, then crossed over the highway and struck a tree.
She died at Springfield City Hospital Sunday about 2:30 P.M., a short time following the accident.

Eugene Lyle age 86 of Hillsboro died Monday evening January 5, 2015 at his home. He was born December 5, 1928 in Hillsboro, Ohio the son of the late Hamer and Helen Kline Lyle. Mr. Lyle was a lifelong farmer and member of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church. He is survived by four children, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Roads Lyle on April 17, 2000. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor H. Scott Latimer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Fune ral Home. Carl T. Roads, 66, of Columbus, died Tuesday,
November 26, 1996, at St. Ann's Hospital.
A member of Northeast Baptist Church; and was retired from Armco and Steelox Systems, Inc.
He was an Army veteran in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Roads is survived by his wife, Nancy Howells Roads; daughter, Pamela (Jae) Montgomery;sons, Phillip (Janet) Roads and Michael (Susie) Roads; stepdaughters, Marcy (Barry) Conley and Rebecca Howells; stepsons, Randy (Melinda) Howells and Eric (Marla) Howells; 17 grandchildren; special friends, Bob, Helen, Bev. and Sandy Wiley; sisters, Elizabeth Hull,Josephine Lyle, Martha Schmidt and Ruth Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville today from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M.
Additional calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 9 P.M. at the Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield where services will be held Friday at 11:30 A.M. with pastor, Robert Wiley, officiating.

She was born February 4, 1934, in Fayette County, the daughter of Alonzo and Hazel Penwell Eubanks, Sr.
She was a member of Greenfield Church of Christ and Greenfield Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Roads, to whom she was married May 21, 1955; two sons, Phillip Roads of Westerville and Michael Roads of Greenfield; one
daughter, Mrs. Jaye (Pam) Montgomery of Greenfield; two grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Eubanks of Springfield,Charles Eubanks of Greenfield and Alonzo Eubanks, Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Rosabelle) Blake of Greenfield.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Murray Funeral Home. Danny Dodds will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.

Ruth E. Adams, age 90, of Greenfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe following a brief illness.
She was born July 18, 1932 in Greenfield, Ohio, the daughter of Julius and Edith (DeHass) Roads.
She was a 1950 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School.
She married William Adams in 1955 and was happily married until his passing in 2002.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Mary Martha (Eddie) Schmidt, Josephine (Eugene) Lyle, Elizabeth (Eddie) Hull, Carl (Dorothy) Roads and Lloyd Roads; niece, Susan Cooper; nephews, George Hull, Bob Lyle, Mike Roads; and both parents.
She is survived by two sons, John Adams of Columbus and Thomas Adams of Dayton; daughter-in-law, Kally Adams of Dayton; two grandsons, Nicholas Adams of Cincinnati and James Adams of Dayton; many loving nephews and nieces including Mary Ellen Mark, Janet Boone, Dale Schmidt, Dana Schmidt, Jim Lyle, Harold Lyle, Cathy Pavlick, Phil Roads, Pam Wise, and their spouses and children.
Ruth was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a life long member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church. She was very active in many church activities and taught Sunday school for over 60 years.
Ruth loved to go on walks several times a day, and her favorite hobby among her many interests was knitting.
Ruth also loved to travel and enjoyed being around her friends especially the rosebud gang.
Ruth was happiest spending time with her family, especially with Bill, John, Tom, Kally, Nick and Jimmy.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6 at the Greenfield First United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 5 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield and 10:00 A.M until 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6 at the Greenfield First United Methodist Church.

Vanceburg, Ky. - John Allison Halstead, 79, widely known Vanceburg resident, died at 5 a.m. today at his home.
He was a retired city clerk and water commissioner.
He was born July 1, 1876, in Adams County, Ohio, a son of William B. and Flora Wood Halstead.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cox Halstead; a son, Willis of North Hollywood, Calif.; two brothers, Robert of Van Buren, Ark., and Charles of Bakersfield, Calif.
He was a member of the Christian Church.
The body is at Plummer Funeral Home where final arrangements are pending.

Dorothy M. Kern, 68, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 1120 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born Oct. 27, 1927, in LaHarpe, Ill., she was the daughter of Lewis Paul and Eva Layborne Link. She married James David Morrow in April 1948. He died Aug. 21, 1955. She later married Gale Kern on Dec. 31, 1958, in LaHarpe.
Mrs. Kern was a graduate of LaHarpe High School and attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill. She worked as a nurse's aide and for the past 38 years assisted her husband in operating the family farm.
She was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church and volunteered in many church and community activities, including home extension and the Go Ye Mission Circle. She enjoyed traveling, photography and hosting foreign exchange students.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Timothy Wayne Morrow of Aurora, Ill.; four daughters, Paula Leigh Weaver of Davenport, Jill Dee Fugate of Burlington, Jennifer Lou Jenkins of Newport Beach, Calif., and Carolyn Marie Kern of Laguna Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; her mother-in-law; two sisters, Jean Louden of LaHarpe and Leah Belle Hicks of Stronghurst, Ill.; three brothers, Donald, Wayne and Wendell Link, all of LaHarpe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, one son, one grandson, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, Ill., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Kern will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Richard Sargent officiating. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Blessing Hospice of Hancock County and Campus Students for Christ ministry at Western Illinois University.

Mr. H. Dale Eppley, 89, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 6:25PM Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.
Dale was born June 15, 1924 near Durham, IL the son of William C. and Ina Babcook Eppley. On April 18, 1947 he married Beatrice Jean Morrow in Blandinsville, IL. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1992. On June 17, 1994 he married Mary Emogine Carter Bowen at the family farm.
Mr. Eppley was a 1942 graduate of LaHarpe High School and attended Burlington Junior College. The majority of his lifetime was spent farming in the Durham community. He retired in 1987. Following his second marriage he moved to LaHarpe. Dale was an accomplished carpenter. He built a home for he and his first wife and future family on the family farm. As a woodworker, he enjoyed making furniture and other items for family and friends. During his farming years he also enjoyed model railroading as a hobby. He loved his St. Louis Cardinal baseball team and was able to attend several games. He was one of their biggest fans. For several years he served on the LaHarpe District School Board. He was a member of W.I.E.C. and attended the Durham United Methodist Church. Dale and Emogine were snow birds and enjoyed spending their winters in Winter Haven, Florida and attending the West Side Baptist Church of Haines City.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 1 brother, George, 1 sister, Mary Burford and 1 nephew, Dennis Eppley.
