Ellwood City couple make new home in Sewickley
ELLWOOD CITY – Mr. and Mrs. George Curry, wed in Calvin UP Church Nov. 25, are residing in Sewickley after a trip to Williamsburg, Pa.
The former Miss Judith Gross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Gross Jr. of 506 Franklin Ave., and Mr. Curry, son of the George Currys Sr. of 500 Pershing St., were married by Rev. Lloyd A. Dalbey.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a sheer gown for the double ring rites. Motifs of Alencon lace adorned the bodice and sheath skirt, accented by a train.
Crystal drops and pearls trimmed her headdress, and she carried phalaenopsis orchids and ivy in a cascade.
Miss Marnie Benedette of Allenport, Pa., was maid of honor with Don Curry as best man.
Other attendants were: Miss Cathy Allen, Mrs. William Gross of Saginaw, Mich.; Mrs. Ronald Chalmers of Baltimore and Mrs. Paul Sloop of Aliquippa.
Ushers were: Dave Bauder, John Smith, Mr. Gross and Mr. Chalmers.
Alton Ripper was vocalist and Mrs. Calvin Marziano, organist.
A reception for 200 was held in the Fellowship Hall.
The new Mrs. Curry is an alumna of the Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Mr. Curry recently completed four years of service with the U.S. Air Force, with one year in Vietnam.
Both are Lincoln High School alumni.1

She was predeceased by : her father Frank Gross; her brother William Gross; and her husband George Richard Curry. She is survived by: her children, Denise, Richard and Brian; and her children-in-law, Rodney and Tricia.

Dorothy Marie Freeman
MARION: Dorothy Marie Freeman, 84, of Marion passed away Tuesday morning, August 25, 2009, at the Community Healthcare Center.
She was born March 21, 1925 in Marion to the late Clyde and Ella (Trippier) Porter. She married Jack Freeman Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 11, 1945. Jack passed away in 2004.
Dorothy graduated from Harding High School in the class of ‘43. Following graduation she worked for the Marion Star until she married Jack. She then became a homemaker. She was a long-time member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and could often be seen riding around Marion on her yellow bicycle.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Jack E. (Diane) Freeman Jr. of Allegany, New York; grandchildren, Kyle (Carol) Freeman, Bret (Regina) Freeman, and Edwina (fiance Emmanuel) Freeman all of Ypsilanti, Michigan; great grandchildren, Amaris and Zachary Freeman of Allen Park, Michigan, and Harleigh and Keira Freeman of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania; a grand-daughter in law, Veronica Eskra; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Freeman; and two sisters, Nellie Augenstine and Viola Justice.
The Freeman family would like to thank the staff at Community Healthcare Center and the Odyssey Hospice Program for the care they provided to Dorothy during her final days.
Pastor J. Weston Jones will conduct a funeral service for Dorothy on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will immediately follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends and loved ones at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Arrangements are in care of Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
Contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church’s Radio Fund.

Mary Jane Segar
VICTOR – Mary Jane Segar, 76, of Victor, passed away at her home with her family Feb. 14, 2010.
She was born April 25, 1933 to Crawford and Ida Earley.
On Sept. 30, 1964 she married Joseph W. Segar in Tacoma, Wash.
Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing, bowling and roses. She also loved to watch the birds and deer in her yard.
She ran a daycare for 11 years before moving to Montana in 1996.
Mom was a very loving and caring person who would think of others before herself. Supporting her kids in whatever activity we were in.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandchild, Conner William.
