BRISTOL - Laura J. Latture, 84, 1099 Maryland Ave. died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at her home.

She was the wife of the late Samuel Latture and was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. James Rogers and Mrs. Fred T. Morgan, both of Bristol, Mrs. John M. Wininger, Blountville, Mrs. Ralph Teague, Lexington, N. C.; one sister, Mrs. Dave H. Thompson, Bristol; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Latture Morgan, age 98, a former resident of 1009 Maryland Ave., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Bristol Nursing Home.

Mrs. Morgan was born on Jan. 19, 1906. She was a daughter to the late Samuel and Laura Feathers Latture of Bristol. Mrs. Morgan was a bookkeeper at Sterchi Furniture Company for many years and later worked at WCYB. She was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband, Fred T. Morgan; nephews, John Wininger and wife Mary Ann of Blountville and Ralph T. Teague and wife Doris of Monroe, N.C.; and

niece, Jo Swing and husband Larry of Lexington, N.C.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Robert Countiss officiating. There will be no

formal visitation at the funeral home.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Rev. Fred Thomas Morgan, 92, went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2006.

His last compassionate deed for his fellow man was to donate his body to medical science.

Mr. Morgan served in the U.S. Army, 822nd AAA Auto Weapons Battalion, during World War II. He served 28 years as a supply pastor in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.

He also was a well-known artist in Bristol and surrounding states, where he painted and taught art over 64 years. He was a life member in the National Registry of Who's Who in recognition as a long-standing professional artist.

Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie Edith Latture.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Grant Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 30, at 3 p.m. at Three Springs United Methodist Church.

BRISTOL -- John M. Wininger Sr., 61, of 832 Blountville Highway, Bristol, died Wednesday night at Bristol Memorial Hospital following an illness of several years.

John Morgan Wininger went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2013, after an extended illness.

He was born in 1937, the only child of Jay and Elva Wininger, and grew up in the Central Heights Community. He graduated from Blountville High School in 1955 and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Akard, in 1958.

John completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tennessee in 1959, graduating with honors. He began his career at the shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. He then joined Eastman Kodak in 1962, where he worked for 35 years. He acquired his land surveyor's license in 1969 and covered many acres in Sullivan County, while also teaching others the trade.

He was a member of Blountville United Methodist Church, a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School class, the United Methodist Men, and served his church on many committees through the years.

John also enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing with Mary Ann, as well as entertaining friends and family at their summer home on Boone Lake. John was a devoted son, husband, and father, spending many years caring for his elderly family members in their time of need. He devoted his life to his wife and family, always working tirelessly to provide for his family, stressing the importance of a Christian home and the value of a college education.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of over 50 years, Mary Ann Wininger.

John is survived by his children: Carla Countiss and her husband, Robert, Dr. David Wininger and his wife, Sandy, Mark Wininger and his wife, Tammy, Dr. Andrea Wininger Hood and her husband, Dr. Jason Hood; ten grandchildren, Amanda Countiss, Jacob Countiss, Morgan Wininger, Matthew Wininger, Brandon Wininger, Jarred Wininger, Madelyn Wininger, Aaron Wininger, Wesley Hood, and Samuel Hood.

The family will receive friends at Blountville United Methodist Church from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Ensminger and Rev. Robert Countiss officiating. The burial service will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Wininger, Jarred Wininger, Jacob Countiss, Alan Akard, Chris Akard, Todd Akard, Travis Akard, and Pete Akard.
