Edmund Delmonte Lewis, 90, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord June 9, 2021. He was born in Hallsboro, Va. and graduated from Midlothian High School. In 1972 he and Bob Owens started Lewis and Owens, an engineering and surveying firm, which is now E.D. Lewis & Associates. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 69 years, Anne Sneed, his sons Monte (Patty), Russell, Jim (Carol), and John (Cheryl); 7 grandchildren, Lawren May (Michael), Gib (Amy), Jay (Sarah), Mark, Ross (Katie), John Russell (Brittany), and David; one great grandchild Emmarose; and a brother James "Dinky" Lewis. He was a man of faith and member of Crestwood Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He dearly loved his family and loved his farm. The world lost its greatest turkey hunter. He will be truly missed. Visitation will be Monday, June 14 at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home 3215 Anderson Highway Powhatan, Va. from 6:00pm-8:00pm and funeral service at Crestwood Presbyterian Church 1200 Charter Colony Rd. Ernest Lee Cassinger Passed from this life on May 15, 2021 in Harper, Texas at the age of 77. He was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio moving to Sugar Grove, Ohio in 1970. Left Ohio in 1978 moving west to Colorado, Nevada, and settling in Texas in the mid 1990's. Settled into the Hill Country, living in Boerne, Bandera, Kerrville, and finally Harper.
He served in the United States Marine Corps (1962-1966) through Vietnam Theater and he was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Last posting was Kerrville post 1480. "Once a Marine, always a Marine."
Avid Civil War enthusiast who became a re-enactor in his teens and participated with the 1st Ohio Regiment, Company C, Columbus, Ohio. After moving from area in 1970, he was the founder and Captain of the Ohio 17th, Company B (Sherman's Brigade) of Lancaster, Ohio. After moving westward, he participated in events, but never again belonged to an organized regiment.
He enjoyed collecting items related to "The King" Elvis Presley and loved showing off this "Elvis Room".
He is proceeded in death by parents, Homer and Alice Cassinger; brother, Nelson Cassinger.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include, children, grandchildren, grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Rest in peace, sir.
He was buried in 2021 in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX, Findagrave #227670380.
