GEORGE B. ROBERTSON

George Bernard Robertson, 39, of 717 Adams Avenue, died yesterday at memorial Hospital shortly after admission.

Born February 16, 1933 at Lonaconing, he was a son of Mary N. (McKenty) Robertson, this city, and the late William J. Robertson.

Mr. Robertson was a member of Local 447, Sheetmetal Workers International; First United Methodist Church of Lonaconing; and a veteran of the Korean conflict.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marion Pat (Cobb) Robertson, one daughter, Pamela Lynn Robertson, home; two stepdaughters, Miss Patricia Ann and Deborah Kay Leedy, both of Albany, N.Y.; one stepson, Joseph G. Leedy Jr., Cresaptown; two brothers, David E. Robertson, Milledgeville, Ga.; William G. Robertson, city and one step-grandson.

The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received today and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home by Rev. Peter J. Smyrl.    Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ruth A. Rupert

Mrs. Ruth Ann Rupert, 60, 608 N. Boone St., died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Rupert was a Johnson City native and had lived here most of her life. She was a daughter of Ruth King Hartley, Johnson City and the late Joseph Luke Hartley Sr.

Mrs. Rupert was a graduate of Wilkesboro (N.C.) Senior High School and attended Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. She received a bachelor's degree in music and education from Newberry (S.C.) College and a master's degree in education from East Tennessee State University.

Mrs. Rupert retired from Volunteer High School, Church Hill, where she taught English and French.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she was one of the first women lectors and lay Eucharistic ministers licensed to take communion to the sick and homebound and serve Communion at the altar.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, John C. Rupert; one son, David J. Rupert, Johnson City; one brother, Joseph Luke Hartley Jr., Johnson City; two grandchildren, Zachariah David Rupert and Gabriel Blaine Rupert, both of Johnson City; and several cousins.

MRS. RUTH A. RUPERT

The funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Ann Rupert, 60, 608 N. Boone St., who died Thursday, March 20, 2003, will be conducted Monday, March 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Frank M. Cooper officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in Monte Vista Burial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jeff Farrow, George Boy, Carl Erickson and Sid Hartley.

The family will receive friends in the narthex of the church Monday from 1-2 p.m.

Mrs. Rupert is survived by her mother, Ruth King Hartley, Johnson City; and her husband, John C. Rupert; one son, David J. Rupert and his wife Amy, Johnson City; one brother, Joseph Luke Hartley Jr., Johnson City; two grandchildren, Zachariah David Rupert and Gabriel Blaine Rupert, both of Johnson City; several cousins including Mary Ann King Taylor, Stanley Denny, Laura Denny Boy, Anita Denny Wilcox, Patricia Denny Roller. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 500 N. Roan St., Johnson City, TN 17601.
