Barbara H. Hoover, 79, of Frederick County, Virginia died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.

Mrs. Hoover was born in 1937 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Paul R. and Leota C. Himelright. She attended Handley High School and was employed for over 35 years as a secretary with Pifer Office Supply. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be remembered for her love of family, flowers, friends, sewing and all animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and her one of a kind outlook on life.

Her husband, Donald R. Lauck, Sr., whom she married in Hagerstown, Maryland preceded her in death on October 25, 1980. Barbara later married Steve Hoover in 1985 Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Donald “Donnie” R. Lauck, Jr. of Middletown, Virginia; brother, Ronnie R. Himelright; sister, Sue Perry both of Winchester, Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy M. Lavacchie.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Hebron Cemetery with Celebrant Joseph R. Dilleree officiating.

Bernard A. Payne, Jr., 69, of Fall Church, died at Arlington Hospital of complications from cancer. He had been with American Service Center Associates, automobile dealers in Arlington for 29 years before he retired in 1977. He retired as service manager for the Mercedes-Benz division and assistant manager of the Fiat division. He later was a consultant to HBL, Inc., auto dealers in Fairfax. Born in Staunton, Mr. Payne attended William and Mary. During World War II, he served as an Army captain in the Pacific. He moved to this area after the war. He was a member of Post 139 of the American Legion in Arlington and of Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton. He was survived by his wife Gertrude Ellen, a daughter, a son, a sister Elizabeth, and five grandchildren.
