"The prisoner being brought to the Bar in custody of the Sheriff of this County and being arraigned of the premises, plead not guilty. Whereas on sundry witnesses, were sworn and examined as well on behalf of the commonwealth, as the said Peter Swartz (alias Black) Jun. and the matter being fully heard. Upon consideration whereof the court are of the opinion that the said Peter Swartz (alias Black) is guilty and that he ought to be tried in the District Court, holden at Winchester. And it is ordered that John Kline, Jonathan Mauk, Rosina Wendell, Elizabeth Swartz, William Wright and Peter Blind enter into a recognizance, conditioned for one pair of Blacksmith's Bellows, one screw plate, a slack tub, one bucket, and some pieces of old iron, one Dutch scythe and handell, one old jacket, one stack of rye, deponent is to thrash and after thrashing thereof he is to pay 3.16 per bushel also 40 bushels of wheat out of which flower is to be made and sent to market and 8 pounds with the barrel to be paid out of it, and the offal of the flower and sold to the defendant" (Painter, Fred P., n.d.
