MRS. JAMES ANDERSON
VISALIA --- Funeral services will be held Monday in the Hadley Chapel for Mrs. Dolores Anderson, 39, of rural Dinuba, who died in a Fresno hospital Thursday of a brief illness.
The Rev. R. Meredith Stevens will officiate and burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, a native of Fairview, Okla., and Exeter, and was graduated from the Visalia High School. She was married to James E. Anderson in Visalia in 1947 and the couple lived here for 13 years before moving to Livermore for six years. They returned to the Dinuba area last year. She attended the Methodist Church of Dinuba.
Besides her husband survivors are two sons, James Anderson III, and John Anderson of Dinuba; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Young of Tulare; three brothers, Glenn Young of Visalia, Allen Young of Fremont and Alfred Young of Grand Junction, Colo., and four sisters, Mrs. Rachel Plank of Midleton (sic), Ohio, Mrs. Glada Hicks of Porterville, Mrs. Faye Long of Fresno and Mrs. Vada Knob of Delta, Colo.
NOTE: Rachel Rosetta (Young) Plank, wife of Maurice Bernard Plank, lived in the village of Midland in rural Clinton County, Ohio. Midland was a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station during the early-to-mid 20th century. A few houses remain in the area, population 307 as of the 2020 census (Wikipedia), surrounded by farm lands. Jeffrey Dale Allen
Truck Driver
Jeffrey Dale Allen was born on September 8, 1949, in Visalia, Calif., to Bob and Dorothy Allen. A life-long resident of Visalia, he passed away on March 24, 2006, at the age of 56.
Jeffrey worked as a truck driver for 25 years, but his love was wood-working. He was an accomplished woodcarver and always took time to make his children and grandchildren special gift carvings. He was especially known for his walking sticks. Jeffrey loved his country. In the Army he served two tours in Vietnam, the second, voluntarily after sustaining major injuries from his first tour. He received the Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars as well as many other medals and awards. He was known for his sense of humor and ability to "creatively" tell his stories and play the harmonica. He was also known as a survivor, dealing with many hardships while keeping a positive attitude and love for life.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His wife of 31 years, Joyce Allen of Visalia; his daughters, Beverly Davis and her husband, Jason, with their children, Jason Jr., Jacob and Madeline of Visalia and Donna Castleman and her children, Jessika Peck, Danielle Holcomb and K. J. Holcomb of Eureka; his sons, Steve Allen and his children, Cooper, Wyatt and Katie of Visalia and Rick Castleman of Jamestown; his mother, Dorothy Allen of Tulare; his brother, Bob Allen of Porterville; and sister, Patti Jennings of Tulare. Jeffrey will also be deeply missed by his extended family, Joyce's parents, Bonnie and Daryl Stokes of Visalia; her sisters, Alice Payne and her husband Sam, Judy Correia and Peggy Tristao of Visalia and her brothers Mike and Tom Stokes of Visalia.
Visitation will be held 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia. Service to be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Visalia District Cemetery.
