HARSHBARGER, Allen L 72, of Springfield, died Tuesday morning November 2, 2010. He was born in Springfield on January 15, 1938 the son of the late A. Allen and Janet (Kneisly) Harshbarger. He lived five years in New Jersey and 20 years in Sarasota, Florida, returning to Springfield in 2004. Allen graduated from Wittenberg University in 1961. He was employed with Ohio Bell Telephone Co in Dayton and then transferred to AT&T Headquarters in New Jersey for five years. After taking early retirement, he moved to Sarasota, Florida and worked for GTE in Tampa as well as working with a START-UP business program with the University of South Florida. His hobbies included radio control model airplanes, photography, and golf. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maryann (Weaver) Harshbarger; a son, Randal and his wife, Betsy; a grandson, Nicholas and his wife, Jennifer and a great granddaughter, Peyton (3 years old), all of Springfield. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Carol Funderburg and her husband, Emmert of New Carlisle. A service to celebrate Allen's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
