Obituary -- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta, Georgia; 7 MAY 2010
COSKREY, Michael
The world might be a quieter place after the death of Michael Ross "The Coz" Coskrey, but it sure won't be as much fun. He had the audacity in the company of Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets to let his Clemson ring tone go on and on with "Hold That Tiger" and everybody loved him for it. He was a bit of a dandy in his English tweeds, but he never looked more dapper than when he had his apron on front and his flask in a back pocket, hovering over a charcoal grill. He loved his family and friends, but he never knew how much we needed him. He was a character extraordinaire, but he had extraordinary character. He was the master of his southern culinary specialty, deep fried turkey. He was an avid reader, Clemson supporter, military supporter, republican and outdoorsman. He loved music including bluegrass, Sinatra, country and beach music. His meeting with George Jones was one of the very few moments in his life that left him speechless.
Michael Ross Coskrey of Marietta GA, age, died on May 4, 2010 at Northside Hospital after an extended illness. He was a veteran of the furniture industry, having worked for 35 years in furniture sales and manufacturing. He was the consummate salesman, winning many awards and making business personal with all of his clients. He was a graduate of Martinville High School in Martinsville VA and attended Randolph Macon College in Asheville VA. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian in Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by his father A.R. Coskrey, mother Lois Coskrey and sister Connie W. Diggle.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter Wesleigh, his son Jason of Marietta, his sister Cathy of Dunwoody, and his nephew Kenneth Whitener of Dryden NY.
Arrangements will be handled by H.M. Patterson and Sons at 1157 Old Canton Hwy in Marietta. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-9 and funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to City of Hope or Dogs for the Disabled.
Michael Ross Coskrey lived from 1978 to 2010 in Marietta, Cobb Co., GA.
