Reafus (Jack) Kelley, 90, of Stuart, Va., died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on June 21, 1926 to the late Martha Sue Robertson and Henry Reafus Kelley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Kelley.
He was a member of Patrick Springs Christian Church where he ministered until his retirement and remained and elder. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Kelley of the home; two sons, Tim Kelley of Pennington Gap, Va,, Terry Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grand children.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Patrick Springs Christian Church in Patrick Springs, Va. with Minister Walter Thornton officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m. and other times at the home on Jeb Stuart Hwy, Stuart, Va.

Note (Tracy DeVault): This obituary does not mention his son, William John Woolf, Jr. Dan MacDonald says that the church where Jack Kelley was a minister "had a big thing about multiple marriages." Dorothy “Dot” Woolf Phillips, age 72, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 after an extended illness.
With all my heart, I am waiting, Lord for you! I trust your promises. (Psalm 130:5)
Dot was born in East Prairie, Missouri in 1946 and graduated from Donaldson High school in 1964. She was retired from GMAC with over 30 years of service.
Dot was beloved by her coworkers, customers, and car dealers. She spent many hours at the ball fields with our sports family and she loved every minute. Dot was an avid competitive bowler all her life and it continued into the senior league at Sparetime Bowling in Hixson. She loved her team and all her friends she spent time with there. She enjoyed people and never met a stranger. Dot was a selfless, kind, loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be truly missed.
Dot was of the Baptist faith and her faith was steadfast and unfaltering. Praise God! Her faith has become sight. Well done thy good and faithful servant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Staggs and Louree and Luke Neil; and her first husband, William “Bill” J. Woolf, Jr.; two brothers and a sister.
Dot is survived by her husband of 19 years, Stephen Phillips; children, William John “Tripp” (Dana Marie) Woolf, III, Amanda DeVault (Weston) Lyall, Lori (Matt) Loney and Joni (Brad) Sullivan; 12 grandchildren; sister, Paulette Werner and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Graveside service for “Dot” will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 12, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East on Shallowford Road with Pastor Michael Steffey officiating.

Daniel M. MacDonald, 87, of East Ridge, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004.
He was born in the Middelburg Transvaal Union of South Africa to missionary parents and came to America in 1922. He became an American citizen Dec. 21, 1942.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army after finishing Army Radio School in Kansas City, Mo. He was stationed in the Southwest Pacific area making seven major assaults from New Guinea to the northern Philippines.
He worked for Western Union Telegraph Co. in Chattanooga after the war retiring in 1976. While at Western Union he started as a bicycle messenger and was manager of the Broad Street office before retiring and later worked for American National Bank.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances MacDonald; parents, Alexander and Iva MacDonald; sisters, Mae Garrett, Mary
McCardell and Iva Collins; and brother, Allen MacDonald.
Survivors include son, Grover Lee Millard, Chattanooga; daughter, Kathy Anita DeShaw, Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Lois Longley, Apison, Grace McNabb, Red Bank; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday graveside at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. C. Henry Preston officiating.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
Note (Tracy DeVault): This obituary was written by Daniel Murdo MacDonald, Sr. He clearly knew that Daniel Murdo "Dan" MacDonald, Jr. was not his biological son. That information was kept from Dan Jr. until Daniel Sr. passed away. It was this obituary that began Dan Jr.'s investigation into the identity of his biological father.
