Mr. atid Mrs. R. C. Beezley of Girard announce the. approaching marriage of their daughter, Dorothy Grace, to Lieut. Arthur D. Kirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. (sic) Kirk of Scott City. The wedding will take place in San Pedro, Calif.. on August 28.

Miss Beezley is a graduate of Kansas State College and holds a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin. While attending Kansas State College, she was president of Mortar Board, senior women’s honorary society. Lieulenant Kirk is also a graduate of Kansas State College where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, social fraternity, and Blue Key, senior men’s honorary fraternity.

Lieutenant Kirk is with the Medical Corps in San Francisco.

KIRK, Dorothy Grace -

after 64 years of living life to its fullest, Dorothy Grace Kirk passed away in her sleep on November 15, 2005. She was surrounded by family as she joined her husband of 59 years, Arthur

Kirk who died ir 2003.

Born on January 13, 1921, Dorothy Beeziey grew up on a dairy farm in Girard, Kanas. She earned straight A's all through school, graduated with honors from Kansas State, and then received a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin.

In college, she met Arthur Kirk and they were married on August 28, 1943, and then soon after moved to Spokane.

Art and Dorothy decided they wanted four children and they got their wish doubled. Mary, Jim, Stove, Jane, Ruth, Pat, Dave, and Andy. No one could have been more involved in every aspect of her children’s lives or have kept herself ‘and her family more active -- hiking, camping, skiing and playing tennis, While the kids were up, vacations usually meant enjoying the outdoors.

Later Dorothy traveled the world, including trips to Ireland for genealogy work.

Despite a life overflowing with activity, Dorothy's door was always open, there was always a place at the table and an extra bed for friends and friends of friends Through all of this, she maintained a calm and unshakable patience, and rarely was without a smile.

Dorothy was also generous with her community. She volunteered during WWII, sewing tor the Rod’ Cross, then became active in youth and community affairs ranging from organizing youth tennis tournaments, PTA President in three schools, Chairman of the Spokane International Exchange Council and for about twenty years took into their home foreign exchange students She was named Woman of the Year by Beta Sigma Phi, past President of Chapter DR of PEO and Chairman of the Valley United Way. During Bloomsday, she was Committee Member and named volunteer of the year in 1989. Since 1945, Dorothy has been a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was also past

Director of the Barton School.

Dorothy's contributions to making life better for her family and her Community were extraordinary. She had much to give and gave all she had. Dorothy Kirk lived life fully, has left a huge void, but she's also left a legacy that will outlive us all.

Sh is survived by her eight children, their spouses and grandchildren: Mary and Gad of Boulder, Jim, Sara and Matt of Spokane, Steve, Debbie, Suzannah and Tom of Spokane, Jane of Yakima, Pat, Paul and Ruthann of Moscow, Russia, Ruth, Roger, Kevin and Sam of Spokane, Dave, Shelly and Adam of Yakima, Andy, Tanya, Valerie, Jacob and Stephanie of Anchorage.

Services were held on Saturday,November 19th at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, 99204. The family requests donations be made to Spokane Hospice or First Presbyterian Church.

KIRK, R. Stephen "Steve"

August 6, 1949 - September 3, 2011

Steve left to be with Jesus on September 3, 2011. “I’m looking forward to meeting Jesus and seeing loved ones, to all the joys and surprises that Eternity has in store- getting out of this defective body (which nevertheless has put up a good fight) and getting a new body without the limitations leukemia imposed over the last five years.”

Steve was a man of deep faith, guiding him in life and death, which he handled with extraordinary, loving grace. All who knew Steve will never forget his easy smile, boundless curiosity, and commitment to celebrating the physical and spiritual life. He played tennis as a teen, rowed crew in college, skied, climbed mountains, and completed triathlons. Even acute myeloid leukemia couldn’t stop Steve. In 2006, he rode his bike from the Valley to Sacred Heart for five months of chemotherapy. He enjoyed four and a half years of remission, without a bone marrow transplant. During this time, he joined the Mountaineers, climbed Mt. Rainier twice, and visited Egypt and Israel. In his final months, he hiked, camped and fished with his son, skied in Vail, water skied behind his wave runner, and ran and finished Bloomsday. Just a few weeks ago, he went huckleberry picking and canoeing. In July, Steve enjoyed a family reunion where he completed his bucket list by gathering his loved ones to compliment each and say goodbye.

Steve was the third of eight children of Dorothy and Art Kirk, veterinarian. He graduated salutatorian from University High, and received a BS in electrical engineering from UW. Steve chose to become a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War. The focus of his career was computer software programming, finishing at Spokane County Utilities. A strong Christian throughout his life, Steve attended church, initiated mission trips, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Hospitality, and other nonprofits.

Steve is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Deborah “D.” Nielsen Kirk; children, Suzannah and Tom; siblings, Mary, Jim, Jane, Pat, Ruth, Dave, Andy and their families; as well as many relatives and friends. Steve’s message to us, “I’m very much at peace and ready to get across the River Jordan. Thanks for your love for me and my family and your prayers as | take the next big step in my journey.”
