Charles Larimore, 77, Dies Sunday; Services Tuesday

UTICA --- Charles D. Larimore, 77, of 109 Martinsburg Road, Mt. Vernon, father of E. Paul Larimore, mayor of Utica, died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, Mt. Vernon, after a three-week illness.

Mr. Larimore, a retired farmer, was a member of Ebenezer Church; Turion Lodge, Knights of Pythias of Mt. Vernon, Odd Fellows Lodge of Newark and Morris Grange.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Maggie Larimore, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Loren Phillips of Wauseon and three other sons, Joseph D. Larimore of Lexington, Walter E. and Maurice R. Larimore, both of Mansfield; also 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Krute of Cleveland and Mrs. Cora Mahurd of Utica and two brothers, Clifton J. Larimore of Medina and Jesse M. Larimore of Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the family home with the Rev. W. M. Lockard and the Rev. Harry Mowery officiating. Burial will be made in South Lawn Cemetery, Utica. The body is at the home.

He was buried in July 1952 in South Lawn Cemetery, Utica, Licking Co., OH, Findgrave #94564552.

Beach on 26 August 1896 in Knox Co., OH; Burton was first married to Florence Effie Thurston (1873-1932), daughter of Benoi and Matilda (Shaffer) Thurston on 2 MAR 1893 at Franklin County, Ohio. That marriage apparently broke up, without children, within a couple of years, as both Burton and Effie remarried in August 1896. Effie remarried to William A. Wartenbe (1880-1944) on 1 AUG 1896, also at Franklin County, Ohio. She and Burton E. Beach were divorced before 9 February 1911, when she remarried to Charles Krute. She married Charles August Krute on 9 February 1911 in Cuyahoga Co., OH; ceremony by William Brown, J.P. She died on 24 November 1957 in Knox Co., OH.

Ruth Phillips

WAUSEON – Ruth D. Phillips, 82, Wauseon, died Thursday night at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, following a long illness.

She was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Utica, the daughter of Charles and Maggie (Lamson) Larimore. She married Lauren Phillips, who preceded her in death.

A resident of Fulton County for many years, she was a member of First Church of god.

Surviving are a son, Myron, Napoleon; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Goldsmith of Swanton, Shirley Phillips of Perrysburg and Mrs. Louise Hoops, Cottage Grove, Ore.; three brothers, Paul of Utica, Walter of Mansfield, and Maurice of Frederickstown (sic); 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be in the church at 2:30 p.m., Sunday with Revs. Paul Gasche and Dan Bowditch officiating. Burial will be in Wauseon Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at Edgar Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the church.
