Biography

Frances Rodgers was born in 1781 in Cumberland Co., PA. She married Samuel Sturgeon on 15 December 1803 in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA; ceremony by Rev. John Moody (same minister as performed 1807 marriage ceremony for her brother Andrew Rodgers). She died on 15 April 1813 in Dauphin Co., PA.

She was buried in April 1813 in Old Hanover Presbyterian Churchyard, Grantville, Dauphin Co., PA, Findagrave #15843784.
Frances Rodgers was also known as Fanny Rodgers. More facts and events: Considerable confusion exists in online genealogies regarding this individual -- it appears there were at least two Frances Rogers/Rodgers in the Cumberland-Dauphin County area in the same time frame. One married to Gen. John Harrison on 26 APR 1804, and one married to Samuel Sturgeon in 1803. The same minister, Rev. John Moody, performed marriages for Frances Rodgers, daughter of Richard Rodgers, and also for her brother Andrew Rodgers in 1807. Possibly Samuel Sturgeon's first wife, Martha McNair, died before his marriage to Frances Rodgers. DLB 2023.

Rachel Rodgers was born in 1787 in Cumberland Co., PA. She married Gen. John R. Harrison on 15 June 1819 in Shippensburg, Cumberland Co., PA. She died on 10 November 1829 in Dauphin Co., PA,

Biographical information -- (Findagrave.com):

General John Harrison was married three times. First to Frances Rogers or Rodgers on 26 April 1804, second to Rachel and third to Elizabeth Wright Murray.

John's sister Sarah "Sallie" Harrison (Findagrave # 176894569), married local Joseph Barnett and moved to Ohio.

In the Historical Sketch of Old Hanover Church, by by Rev. Thomas H. Robinson, D.D., Dauphin Co. Historical Society, 1878, p 34, says he was born Jan 8 1775 and died Feb 28 1837.

His first and second wives were buried here (Old Hanover Presbyterian Churchyard). Frances Harrison, 1781 to 15 Apr 1813 and Rachel, 1787 – 10 Nov 1829, is buried beside him. His third wife was buried in Lebanon, Pennsylvania in Apr 1851.

Rev. Thomas H. Robinson's Historical Sketch of Old Hanover..., 1878, page 32 lists John Harrison: member 1805 - 1836 and his estate, member 1837. This suggests to me he made a contribution at his death. Page 40: Gen. John Harrison, 8 Jan 1775 - 28 Feb 1837.
