Obituary -- The Canton Press, Canton, Missouri; Friday, 6 AUG 1920, p.2 (Newspapers.com):
We record with sorrow the death of another of Canton's oldest and most respected residents. Mrs. N. Starr, mother of Mayor J.W. Starr. Mrs. Starr had been in her usual health and had been attending the chautauqua. Last Friday evening as she was preparing to go to the performance she was taken with an attack of heart trouble, to which she had been subject for some time, lapsing into unconsciousness from which she never roused. About eleven o'clock her spirit quietly passed from earth to its eternal abiding place.
Henrietta Headley was born in Quincy, Ill., July 21, 1845. Her mother died when she was a child and an only sister died in infancy. She came to Canton about 1850, and with the exception of the period of her husband's incumbency in office, when they lived in Monticello, and one year in Kansas, Canton has been her home.
In 1865 she was married to Nehemiah D. Starr. To them were born five children, three daughters, Miss Hattie, Mrs Zahn and Mrs. H. R. McRoberts, and two sons, James W., and F.P. Starr. With the exception of Mrs. Zahn, who lives in Fargo, Okla., all of the family live in Canton.
Mrs. Starr was a member of the Christian church. Her life was lived in the quiet of her home and she lived to see her children rise up and call her blessed. She rests from her labors and her works follow with her.
Funeral services were conducted from her late residence Monday morning at 10:00 by her pastor, George L. Peters, and her body was laid to rest in Forest Grove Cemetery.
