Mary Ann Furrow was born about 1857 in Madison Co., OH; she appears to have been the Mary A. Furrow/Furry/Ferry, listed as the daughter of Amos and Mary/Maria Jane (Hand) Furrow, Furry, or Ferry. The surname was a problem for everyone, including those born with it. Her maiden name was written "Fourey" on the 1878 Hardin County marriage record. The name was written "Furry" on the 1850 and 1870 censuses. It was "Furrow" on the 1850 census. Her brother William used both "Furrow" and "Ferry" during his adulthood. Furrow is the version of her name listed in the "North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000" (Ancestry.com); "Samuel Moody Grubbs, a descendant of the Boone Family", Eighth Generation, page 311. DLB 2024.¹ She married John Harvey Tallman, son of James Wells Tallman and Margaret Minter, on 16 February 1878 in Hardin Co., OH; Ohio County Marriage Records, 1774-1993 (Ancestry.com), Hardin County, OH, Book ? (first entry was 7 APR 1877, on page 1), page 59, ceremony by W. C. Layton, J.P. Mary Ann Furrow died before May 1892.

Martha May "Mattie" Tallman was born on 16 May 1876; her cemetery information shows her mother as Mary "Ferry", however, her father and Mary Furrow were not married until two years after Martha's birth. I believe John had a brief first marriage, apparently ending in the premature death of Martha's mother. DLB 2024. She married Alfred Crosby Hughes Anderson on 19 June 1906 in Franklin Co., OH. She died on 23 August 1970 in Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

She was buried in August 1970 in Union Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, Findagrave #13456672.
