According to the April 1910 census, Monroe Twp., Miami County, OH, in which Lulu was listed alone in her parents' household, she had given birth to only one child, which had died, and apparently they were separated. Lulu later remarried, apparently using a fictitious name and address, to Clinton D. Hale in April, 1916:
